How to Apply

The BBC’s Local News Partnerships [LNP] supports established news providers who can demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the production of public interest journalism for local or regional audiences, irrespective of size or means of distribution.

The project has defined two types of membership – Partner and Supplier

  • Partner: Receives free content generated through the News Hub, Shared Data Unit and Local Democracy Reporting Service
  • Supplier: Receives free content generated through the News Hub, Shared Data Unit and Local Democracy Reporting Service and employs one or more of the Local Democracy Reporters

Partner applications: Partner applications can be made at any time. Applicants should complete the Partner Application downloads below - LNP Partner Application Questionnaire and, if applying on behalf an unregulated organisation, LNP Part 4: Selection Questions. Completed applications or requests for support should be emailed to [email protected]

Supplier applications: Current Supplier contracts will run for an initial period to the end of December, 2027.

The application process to become a Supplier for the current contract period was held from December 2024 to January 2025. As a result, the application window is now closed and there are no current opportunities to become a Supplier news organisation.

Questions relating to this process, or about future opportunities, should be emailed to [email protected]
