This is an exciting oral history project to be undertaken by the young people of the Yemeni community in Liverpool. The community realises the importance of recording the life experience of elders who have countless stories to tell about their journey from the Arabic state and their experiences in setting up a new life. As well as real life stories the team of interviewers, who've been trained by BBC Radio Merseyside, will be told Yemeni Tales like Ala Addin which have been told to generations, before they are lost forever.

This is your opportunity to share your memories of when you first arrived in the city and leave a lasting legacy for everyone to learn from. Can you tell us about your hopes and aspirations as you arrived in a new country, share stories about celebrations such as marriage, religious and other festivals, the family, values, food, traditional dress, music, art, drama.
WHO IS LYAC?
Liverpool Yemeni Arabic Club works alongside Yemeni/Arabic speaking people in the Merseyside area and those interested in Arabic language and culture. Their aim is to relieve poverty, improve health and to advance education amongst the Arabic community by the provision of training, promoting well being and advice. LYAC takes a positive view of the potential of people and provides services to enable them to make the most of their individual and collection skills and abilities by the celebration of all aspects of Arabic history, language, cultural heritage and identity. Abdul's Story Regular updates on this Voices project can be heard on the Roger Phillips programme, Monday to Friday 11.30am to 2pm. On the Thursday, 17th of April, the author of the planned book will be interviewed on the programme about the part he's playing in the project.
