|  | A spectacular three night festival of music and comedy is to be held on the banks of the River Mersey, from September 3-5th! The Waterfront Weekend will feature top classical, pop and comedy acts in a specially built 5,000 seat arena! |
 | |  | The Waterfront Classics, Waterfront Rock and Waterfront Comedy nights build on the success of last years Waterfront Classics concert, which was attended by 4,500 people.
The first event, Waterfront Classics, on Friday 3rd September, is a spectacular classical musical concert in association with Classic FM, performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
They will play compositions by Claude Debussy, Leonard Bernstein, Richard Wagner and Strauss, and will also be joined on stage by Marc Almond and the Farm, who will each perform one of their own hits. The concert also features Liverpools own Young Musician of the Year, Thomas Osbourne.
Michael Elliott, Chief Executive of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, said: Music lovers are promised a fantastic night of entertainment showcasing the versatility of our Orchestra in a programme featuring some of the world's most beautiful music, with special guests from the worlds of pop and classical music."
A massive pyrotechnic, laser lights and fireworks display will light up the night sky to accompany the music.
On Saturday 4th September, Waterfront Rock, a pop music concert will also light up the sky!
And on Sunday 5th September, the Pier Head will be rocking with laughter during the Waterfront Comedy night. Two of the countrys most popular acts - Jo Brand and Julian Clary take to the stage for a night of comedy which has never been seen before, organised in association with Rawhide Comedy Club.
A giant video wall will beam images of the crowd and the stage to the audience.
Tickets for the event go on sale on Thursday 17th June 2004 at 9am and are available from the Piccadilly box office on 0870 881 5544.
Seats are priced at £16.50, £22.00 and £27.50 for the Waterfront Classics and Waterfront Rock nights, including booking fee.
