Things are a little bit different today, I am feeling weak and the mood is dark, as is the mood of the title in question, Max Payne 2. The fall of Max Payne, a love story noir, so get your brightness turned up. I got the original Max when I bought my Xbox and was relieved to find it was an excellent game, as the package cost me £415! This game is more than excellent but less than long. Mind you, some of the best pop songs last less than two minutes so we look through the darkness to find supposedly a positive, which is nice, as is shooting people which is what you spend most of your time doing in Max's world. | | Dave gets turned on by the Max Payne sequel. |
If this is black love I want more of it. In the previous title you spent a lot more time alone, but now apart from having lots more foes to have a go at, (my favourite being Mike the Cowboy, alias Boris Becker) you now have Mona (I bet she is). You actually get to play with Mona which is great because she comes with a massive stash of pills, just don't tell Maxy. Weapons have been improved too, with the introduction of the preferred weapon of your enemy, the AK47 assault rifle. I wonder why we never see the SA80 in computer games?! There's lots more FMV now and it's been well integrated as has the phase effect they use for when Max is tripping (that Mona will be the death of him). If you ain't got Max Payne, go and buy it for a tenner and wait till this one costs the same, but if you've got Max Payne, get your forty boys out and feel the Payne. I'm feeling the Payne and that wasn't supposed to rhyme. Darkness has descended on us again. 8/10 Dave Vague |
