THE ITALIAN JOB SCREENSHOTS

I didn’t know what to expect from this game, not having seen the new ‘Italian Job’, nor the original movie, but my first impression from the cover was that the game looked really fast and exciting with lots of action and crashes.

When I started playing, I was surprised that you can choose your car from a range, including the famous Mini Cooper, and even a lorry!

There are four different stages to play, the ‘Story’ mode, ‘City Racing’, ‘Time Trails’ and ‘Stunt Mode’.

‘Story’ mode has an interesting plot and was over fast enough to stop me getting bored. It does lack, however, for not having a map to guide you through the journey, as the radar function is difficult to use.

It is very challenging, especially when the police get involved! The best feature is being able to get to the next level by doing stunts to receive extra points.

‘City Racing’ involves racing against other Mini Coopers to reach certain destinations in heavy traffic.

The great thing about the ‘Time Trails’ stage is that the high jumps are shown like videos. You don’t necessarily have to follow the road either, but can make up your own routes, which is great. Whilst the sound effects are good, music in the background would be even better.

For me, ‘Stunt mode’ was the best stage, because you get to wreck your chosen vehicle. Whilst driving through the course, you can crash into bars and walls to destroy your car and gain points. This stage is excellent to play with select company!

The whole game is good for two players, but very time consuming because there are so many different missions to choose from. Each mission has four objectives that have to be achieved, and this can take forever!

The only thing that I didn’t enjoy about the game is that, although it is action packed, you only get to smash up your car in certain stages.

The damage itself isn’t very exciting as it’s only shown as black smoke rising from the car. Where were the doors flying off and windows being smashed?

Overall, I thought it was a good game, which both genders can enjoy. I would definitely recommend it to people. Just don’t expect mass scenes of wreckage, and you’ll be fine.

7/10
