Im used to playing sports simulation games, but I didnt know what to expect when playing NBA Inside Drive 2003.
Despite my lack of knowledge about basketball I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Microsoft had produced an easy to use, realistic, and highly playable endorsement for the NBA. Despite the ease of use it does become apparent within a few minutes of playing, that some knowledge of whos who in the current game is advantageous.
The game offers some assistance in the form of icons that tell you a players main strength, for example there are symbols for speed and accuracy. | | Patience was really impressed with the graphics |
The game offers variety and a certain level of flexibility, including the option of one to two players, making it possible to play against the computer, with a friend, or if you have time to kill, you can even play a whole season. The graphics in the game are amazing, making it realistic, and enjoyable, not at all arcade like. One of the best features about the game is that you have the chance to create your own player, and even the opportunity to manage your own team.
Because the regular season is so lengthy it is a great feature of the game that allows you to go straight to the play-offs and compete for the NBA title. If there is one criticism to make about the game, I would say that while it is relatively easy to play on the offence, effective defence is more difficult to manage mainly because the variety of functions for offensive play far outweigh those for defensive play. Having said that, it is only a minor downside to what has been a highly enjoyable game to play. I give the game a cool 7 out of 10.
