Nominations for the BBC Sports Unsung Hero 2007 have now closed. ![]() The search for sport's Unsung Hero, sponsored by Robinsons, is taking place across the United Kingdom. It will see winners initially named in the following BBC areas: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, East, East Midlands, London, North East & Cumbria, North West, South, South East, South West, West, West Midlands, Yorkshire, East Yorkshire & Lincolnshire. Bursaries of up to £2,500 are available to winners of each regional award, to help them with their work in sport: The Unsung Hero from each area will be announced at the region's own sports awards, being held at Derby Assembly Rooms on Monday 26 November 2007. ![]() John Reynolds with the Unsung Hero Award The FA cup, the World Snooker Championship trophy, Derby County's play-off winning trophy and a trophy from the Leicester Tigers will all be on display. Players will be attending the ceremony from Derby County Football Club, Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club and many other clubs. The event will be live on BBC Radio Derby and BBC Radio Nottingham, and highlights will be shown on BBC East Midlands Today.
