Leicester 40-26 Wasps

London Wasps are out of the Guinness Premiership play-offs for the first time in their history, after losing to Leicester 40-26 at Welford Road. But Tigers' Head Coach Pat Howard isn't getting complacent about his team's chances at Twickenham in May.

Leicester secured a home tie against Bristol in the Guinness Premiership play-offs with a victory over Wasps at Welford Road.

The Tigers grabbed four tries and fly-half Andy Goode marked his 100th Leicester appearance in the Premiership with a 18-point haul to follow his 27 points against Llanelli in last week's Heineken Cup semi-final.

"I think it was ok, but you've got to add the likes of Ibanez, Dallaglio, and I'd say King as well, to that mix and those guys will make a difference."
Pat Howard, Tigers' Head Coach

Two tries in the last 10 minutes came too late for Wasps.

Leicester went into their fourth game in 14 days knowing one point would be enough to secure a play-off place and victory would clinch a home semi-final.

A Tigers win would also end Wasps' chances of a top-four finish and deal a psychological blow in the countdown to the Heineken Cup final between the sides on 20 May.

But Tigers' Head Coach Pat Howard isn't getting complacent about the Tigers's chances at Twickenham, and won't give his team too much praise for their performance against the Wasps:

"I think it was ok, but you've got to add the likes of Ibanez, Dallaglio, and I'd say King as well, to that mix and those guys will make a difference. They have that experience to compliment the younger guys they've got.

"They're a good team, they've got real threats and when they make a break they can finish, and I thought we didn't do that overly well today, but it was ok."
