As the celebrities turn their talents to mastering the salsa we offer you the chance to have a go at modern jive which incorporates moves from all styles including salsa. Steve Carr and Nikki Butler from Want2dance Melton will be showing you how it's done and then inviting you to learn a few steps. Steve has been dancing since he was six years old with his sister as partner. They danced ballroom, latin and sequence style and won many competitions. Steve remembers being introduced to Victor Sylvestor at a dance at Leicester's De Montfort Hall in 1966 having danced to his big band at the age of ten. Steve and Nikki dance together at every event but are not strictly dance partners. The style of modern jive allows anyone to dance with any partner very easily once the basics have been mastered. Come along to BBC Leicester's Open Centre on Friday and have a go!
