When Lizzie Owen from Leicester was born with brittle bone disease doctors gave her two months to live. Nearly 27 years later Lizzie is still very much alive and kicking.

When Lizzie Owen from Leicester was born doctors gave her two months to live.

She was suffering from a rare condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, otherwise known as brittle bone disease.

But Lizzie defied the odds and is now fast approaching her 27th birthday.

She has had around 200 fractures over 20 operations to fix them. Despite this nothing seems to get Lizzie down.

Lizzie has recently graduated from university with a BSc in physiology and pharmacology and says she intends to continue to live life to the full.

She said: "I've always been a fighter. You have to think there are others worse off than you and you've got to stay positive and prove people wrong".
