Unsigned Stage

Four Day Hombre
Four Day Hombre

The view from the stage

By Rich Huxley
Leeds band Four Day Hombre make their Leeds Festival debut on the Unsigned Stage this year. Guitarist and vocalist Rich Huxley tells us about the preparations.

22/08/06

Three days now until the first of Four Day Hombre's first major festival appearances. Four Day Hombre are on Leeds Festival's "Topman Stage" (does that mean we get some free clothes?) this Friday at 4-10pm. Judging by the weather forecast it may be pretty busy as it's one of the covered stages – no getting wet for our crowd.

Four Day Hombre's session for Raw Talent
Four Day Hombre's session for Raw Talent

I guess this all started when we played Raw Talent up in Hull with Alan Raw and the lovely Katy Noone. FDH won the year's best session and we just kept on hassling for the festival slot. If there's a lesson to be learnt here then surely it's "Be Tenacious".

The team are all pretty excited as we prepare. We're in cold as it were because there've been some holidays this month so we're not the best rehearsed although that should mean that the set is a bit edgy. I like it like that sometimes – and if we don't know the songs by now then we need a good slap really.

We're in good spirits too as in September and October FDH are going on tour with Embrace, and then following that through to November with our own headline tour.

More good news, we are very happy to confirm that in conjunction with the marvellous Tough Cookie and Tiscali, Four Day Hombre will be playing Reading Festival's VIP tent on Saturday 26 August.

We do everything in house really so this is all really great news for us after years of hard slog we keep on knocking on the door and getting that bit closer to living off our music. Bit by bit, pixel by pixel, inch by inch.

The last festival we played!

So if you're at Leeds/Reading, do drop us a mail, let us know who you think we should be watching, where and when and we may even hook up with you down there. We have 20 VIP tickets to give to fans who are already going down to Reading so get in touch via our website and let's hope it's not as wet as the last summer festival we played (see attached pic).

More soon, Huxley
