On my first day working in Harehills I decided to find out how a few local people wanted their area to be seen by outsiders.

For about an hour I stopped people in the street and asked them "What should I take photographs of to show people what Harehills is like?"

Answers included:

"You should get the small butchers and chemists on Harehills Lane."

"The new surveillance cameras - they're everywhere now."

"Take pictures of the people. They're what make the place come alive."

"The boarded-up buildings. Something should be done about them - especially the ones owned by the council."
