The Main Key Skills Communication: You will be dealing with some very complex information, so being able to take good notes is important, especially in meetings. It's definitely going to be an advantage if you want to be accurate about the information you're getting. Communication is a two-way thing. You need to be able to take it all in and relay it to other people. Hannah found that she needed good telephone and interviewing skills. It was important to ask the right questions. She had good interpersonal skills and was able to communicate with other people effectively. She did a good job at catching and maintaining eye contact. Number: This job requires you to know about all the costing elements involved in the project. Hannah was dealing with complex figures and she needed to be clear about her costing arguments to justify using steel frames. You need to have a clear understanding of both the cost of materials and time implications. IT: Basic IT skills are a must. Hannah had to call on her IT skills for some basic Internet research, which she managed to do with confidence. She used a digital camera to take pictures for her presentation and was also able to access databases to find the information she needed. As with all the jobs we've featured in the series, knowing how to use email is important. Hannah chose to use PowerPoint for her presentation, which allowed her to include good visual material.
