The next election
24/10/2005 - 10:53

There is just one hour left to register to vote in the 2005 Jersey Deputy Elections. We will have full, live coverage of the elections right here on bbc.co.uk/jersey as well as information on each of the candidates within the next two weeks

We will re-publish this feature after the polls close in the Deputy elections at 20:00 on 23 November 2005.

its so nice to see that stuart syvray is back were he belongs

Claire (Host)
We are expecting the first results to be declared at around 9pm. The last (usually St Helier) will be at approximately 11pm.

John du Feu
At what time are the first results expected? ... and the last parish (St Helier maybe)?

Ryan (Host)
That's a good point Roger but would the candidates have an island wide mandate like the current Senatorial system or a local mandate as with the Deputies?

Roger Noel
The worst thing about this election is that some of the Candidates who fail to get elected today will stand as deputies in the deputies election. Therefore the candidates whose views i am opposed to will get elected anyway. Surely this makes a joke of democracy. We should have one election day every three years for all states Candidates.
