24/10/2005 - 10:53 There is just one hour left to register to vote in the 2005 Jersey Deputy Elections. We will have full, live coverage of the elections right here on bbc.co.uk/jersey as well as information on each of the candidates within the next two weeks Because we are about to enter another election period, and some of the unsuccessful Senatorial candidates are re-standing for Deputy we have temporarily removed the ability to view results by candidate. We will re-publish this feature after the polls close in the Deputy elections at 20:00 on 23 November 2005.

Return to house for Syvret
19/10/2005 - 00:06 Stuart Syvret has taken top of the poll in St. Helier and with that also taken top of the overall poll. Stuart Syvret took 14.1% of the votes in St. Helier, followed by Ben Shenton who took 11.9%. The candidates standing under a party banner did better in urban parishes than in the country, and in St. Helier Denise Carrol gained more votes than JDA chairman Geoff Southern. The turnout in St. Helier was only 30.88%. Ben Shenton just beat Freddie Cohen to overall second place. Three new candidates have been elected to the house, Stuart Syvret and Terry le Sueur have been re-elected as Senators and Terry le Main has made a return to the Senatorial benches. Stuart Syvret, Freddie Cohen, Ben Shenton, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard have been elected to the States of Jersey as Senators.

Strong lead for Syvret in St. Brelade
19/10/2005 - 23:55 Stuart Syvret has taken top position in another urban parish, this time the parish of St. Brelade. This has been the strongest showing for Stuart Syvret so far with 2163 votes or 13.3% of the St. Brelade vote. He has beaten closest contender Ben Shenton by 63 votes and Freddie Cohen by over 200. The candidates currently making up the top six are Stuart Syvret, Freddie Cohen, Ben Shenton, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard. It is unlikely the current top six will change now.

Syvret polls top in St. Saviour
19/10/2005 - 23:17 Taking a major urban parish can do wonders for your overall position. Polling top in St. Saviour has helped Stuart Syvret go back to the top of the overall poll and move around 200 votes ahead of Freddie Cohen. The candidates currently making up the top six are Stuart Syvret, Freddie Cohen, Ben Shenton, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard. It is unlikely the current top six will change now.

Increased lead for Cohen
19/10/2005 - 22:55 After nine parishes declared Freddie Cohen has increased his lead at the top of the poll over Stuart Syvret by around 200 votes. The three main urban parishes of St. Saviour, St. Helier and St. Brelade are still declare and are expected after midnight.

Cohen two clear at top
19/10/2005 - 22:45 After eight parishes declared Freddie Cohen is at the top of the poll just two votes ahead of second place Stuart Syvret. Election expert Adrian Lee has commented on how badly the candidates standing under a party label have done. He went on to mention that the candidates standing under a party banner may take a look at how it has effected their chances in this election. Adrian Lee has also commented that it is unlikely the current top four will change. The current top six are Freddie Cohen with 5790, Stuart Syvret with 5788, Ben Shenton with 5501, Terry Le Main with 5096, Terry Le Sueur with 4446 and James Perchard with 3690. Jerry Dorey is in the also ran seventh place with around 100 votes less than James Perchard.

Cohen tops Grouville
19/10/2005 - 22:20 In an exciting race that has seen a chop-change for top spot overall between Freddie Cohen and Stuart Syvret, Cohen has re-taken top overall after polling ahead in Grouville. Ben Shenton, Stuart Syvret, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard made up the remaining five.

Syvret tops St. Clement
19/10/2005 - 22:03 Stuart Syvret tops the poll in St. Clement with 1533 votes. Ben Shenton, Freddie Cohen, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard make up the other five. Stuart Syvret has now moved to the top of the overall poll with 2539 votes so far.

Cohen tops Trinity
19/10/2005 - 21:54 Freddie Cohen has topped the Trinity poll with 725 votes. Stuart Syvret, Terry le Main, Terry le Sueur, Ben Shenton and James Perchard make up the other five. There were 1031 votes cast and three spoilt papers submitted by Ryan Morrison at 21:54 on 19/10/05
St. Mary first to declare
19/10/2005 - 21:27 St. Mary was the first parish to declare. Freddie Cohen has topped the poll in the islands smallest parish with Terry le Main, Ben Shenton, Terry le Sueur and James Perchard making up the other five. 19/10/2005 - 20:30 According to the odds that Honest Nev was offering in his betting shop Stuart Syvret is tipped to collect the highest number of votes. Cohen heads up Elect Jersey poll
19/10/2005 - 20:06 Freddie Cohen topped an unofficial online poll run by Elect Jersey. The other candidates that were successful in the poll were Terry Le Sueur, Terry Le Main, Stuart Syvret, Ben Shenton and Jim Perchard. Jerry Dorey just missed out by placing seventh. Elect Jersey were disappointed that out of the 1000 votes cast 324 were made from one computer.

Perchard tops student poll
19/10/2005 - 20:04 Now the polls have closed we can publish the results of the JCG Students election. Students place Jersey farmer Jim Perchard top of a poll at their school. The successful candidates in the Jersey College for Girls vote were Mr Perchard, Freddie Cohen, Roy Travert, Geoff Southern, Stuart Syvret and Denise Carroll.

High for St. Peter and Grouville
19/10/2005 - 19:57 St. Peter has seen a turnout of 45% so far and Grouville 51% so far. This continues the trend towards a higher turnout than last year.

Turnout up for St. Brelade
19/10/2005 - 19:24 Another increased turnout - this time in St. Brelade. St. Brelade no1 has seen a turnout of 43% as of 19:00. Turnout last time at the time of polls closing was 49.6%. St. Brelade no2 has seen a turnout of 42% as of 19:00. We will have more details on turnout and full results from when the polls close at 20:00.

50% for St. Lawrence
19/10/2005 - 19:12 Turnout has been high across the island but one parish seems to be standing out above the rest. The Parish of St. Lawrence has reported a 50% turnout, the highest in a long time. We will have more details on turnout and full results from when the polls close at 20:00.

JCG Election
19/10/2005 - 19:10 Students at a Jersey school have got into the election spirit.
Year eight and sixth form pupils at Jersey College for Girls held their own mock Senatorial Elections. We have the results and will publish them after the polls close at 20:00.

19/10/2005 - 18:05 The parishes are saying that turnout has been good so far. People have been voting since 20:00 this morning. 25% have so far voted in St. Saviour
27.4% have voted in St. Lawrence

School Election
19/10/2005 - 16:05 Pupils from Le Landes School have had a chance to cast their vote in the 2005 Senatorial Election. The pupils were taken to St. Ouen parish hall and given a tour of the polling station, shown how to vote and then given their own voting paper, asked to cast a vote and put it in a special ballot box. A caller to the BBC Radio Jersey phone-in (12:30 - 13:30 Monday-Friday) told us about the story.  School election story on the daily phone-in >

It's election day and the polls opened at 08:00 this morning, they will be open until 20:00 this evening. Have you voted? Sitting Deputies Guy De Faye, Jerry Dorey, Terry Le Main and Geoff Southern are all seeking an island-wide mandate. Senators Stuart Syvret, Terry le Sueur and Paul Le Claire are hoping for re-election. They are being challenged by Roger Bisson, Denise Carroll, Freddie Cohen, Kevin Lewis, James Perchard, Gino Risoli, Ben Shenton and Roy Travert.
