Treasury and Resources

Senator Philip Ozouf has been elected as the new Treasury and Resources Minister.

Senator Philip Ozouf has been elected as Jersey's new Treasury and Resources minister replacing the out going Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur.

Deputy Geoff Southern challenged him for the role in The States.

Members voted 38 to 13 in favour of Senator Ozouf, who was put forward by Chief Minister elect Senator Terry Le Sueur.

Speaking before the vote, Senator Ozouf told them he's proved he's up to the job from his time as minister for Economic Development.

He said: "I believe I have played a key part in positioning the island to withstand the turmoil facing the world at large.

"Under my leadership we have boosted enterprise in all sectors of the economy, we have breathed new life into tourism, we have integrated harbours and airports, incorporated Jersey Post, set up Jersey enterprise, protected locally based online retailers and championed dozens of new initiative financial services law."
