Battle of Flowers

Battle of the Parishes

With all the confusion around the award for Prix d'Honneur between Trinity & St. Clement we ask - Who get's your vote?

Which Parish gets your vote?
Vote for your favourite Parish Float

Confusion reigned supreme at the Battle of Flowers in 2006 while float builders and participants waited to find out if they had won an award.

All went well up until the announcement of the top award, the Prix d'Honneur.

Initially St Clement were announced as winners of the top prize, but questions where asked as to whether a float could win the top prize if they hadn't won the award for their class.

After what must of felt like a long time for those taking part, the judges announced that they had made a mistake and confirmed that it was St Clement and not Trinity that had won the Grand Prix des Paroisses.

With this in mind we were wondering if you agreed with the judges decision or not? Do you think St Clement deserved the prix d'Honneur and Grand Prix des Paroisses or should it have gone to Trinity?

Maybe you think another float completely should have been given the main prize?

Why not vote for your favourite parish float using the form on the right and then tell us why you think they should have won with the form below.

Why can't presentations and announcements of winners and prizes be made at the evening BOF bash? Either that or make them on the parade infront of the public in some way? What a shame that we - the audience - have to miss out on who wins what and to help congratulate them.

My wife and I moved to Jersey a number of years ago because of the fantastic community spirit in the float sheds every summer. People of all generations and backgrounds working together to put on a tremendous show for the people and visitors of Jersey. The cost of getting to the Island is letting these hard working communities down. I have many friends and family members who would love to come here for the summer but don't because it costs too much. Having spent time in a number of the sheds it was heart warming to discover that Trinity raised money all year round without having to be dependent on large financial backing from sponsors. Why isn't this taken into consideration when floats are judged as I would think that this shows true committment to the cause? They have to date been the most welcoming a friendly shed to help in and I shall look forward to returning again next year. Thank you Trinity.

I think St. Saviour.s was the best, the most intricate and unusual design. and costumery in silver added to the surprise.
