If you've been watching the new BBC One series British Isles: A Natural History, you might already know that we're laying on a special event right here in Jersey to celebrate the wonderful and diverse landscape we live in. | | Daisies growing in the sea wall |
Over the weekend of the 16th and 17th October, we're hosting a circular walk through Grouville where you can explore the area's traditional farm land, historic coastal defences and rich natural history. | | BBC Radio Jersey's Hamish Marett-Crosby |
To guide us on the walks we're delighted to have four local experts Mike Stentiford MBE, Sue Hardy, Pete Double and Olga Finch who will explain just what you're seeing and share their passion for our beautiful island. We'll be stopping at various points along the route of the walk to hear about local flora and fauna, man's impact on the environment, our special marine environment and local geological features. | | BBC Radio Jersey's Jenna Johnson |
You'll also be able to see the faces behind the voices of BBC Radio Jersey as Fiona Spurr, Hamish Marett-Crosby, Jenna Johnson and John Uphoff introduce the experts and lead us on our walk. The walk sets-off from La Rocque harbour car park at 11am on each day and is completely free of charge. In fact the first 25 people on each day will receive a free British Isles: A Natural History goody-bag to take away. | | John Uphoff models the Goody Bag Poncho! |
Amongst other things the goody bags contain useful wet-weather ponchos, as modelled for us by none other than John Uphoff! | | Seymour Tower in the sunshine. |
