The Science Safari

Drive your van around the safari to collect science cards and stop along the way to play games.

You will be given 5 cards when you start out and you will be awarded more cards on your way around the safari or if you win a game. There are 90 different cards; try to collect them all. When you have collected cards they can be sorted in the 'Back of the Van'. If you get the same card twice you can swap it with the computer in the back of the van. Once you have collected all 90 cards you can continue collecting cards but you will get the same cards again.

Click on 'Settings' to hide or show the map, or to turn the background sound on or off.

Preferences

Here you can choose to show subtitles for all the audio on the Science Safari, and you can change the size, colour or background of the subtitles. If you would like to hear the text shown on screen spoken aloud, click on 'Tacaíocht Teanga'. Click 'Save' before closing 'Preferences' to save your settings.

Card Collectors

If you create a user identity and are using the same computer the cards you have collected and the games you have saved will be there when you sign in the next time. If you haven't signed in using your user identity in the past 6 months it will expire and you will have to create a new user identity.

Garage

A sign will let you know when you are drawing near a garage. Drive in the left-hand lane to enter the garage. In the garage you can change the colour of your van and add stickers and other extras. Click on 'Druid' to leave the garage and drive on.

Science Cards

The main aim is to collect all 90 science cards, these include both doing and video cards. Video cards include information on different aspects of science. Doing cards include practical experiments for you to try.

You can play a ready-made game or create your own game. If you want to play a ready-made game you will have to change the properties of the objects to win. If you want to create your own game you can move objects from the materials bar into the main game window. You can create shortcuts using keys on your keyboard. If you create your own puzzle you can save it and play it again the next time you log in.

Gníomhaí Sníomhaí

Find creepy crawlies using your magnifying glass! Then answer the questions to put the minibeasts into different groups. You'll also see videos of the minibeasts and if you finish the game you'll get a Gníomhaí Sníomhaí star!

Misean Mhíleo

Míleo is a toy who fell out of a cereal box. She has to get to the other end of the kitchen to join her friends but there is danger along the way! Míleo has to change into different materials to survive the different puzzles eg. going through the rollers of a pasta maker. Use the arrows on your computer to direct Míleo and to make her jump. You'll have to use your knowledge of materials to help her. You can research different materials on the materials bench or 'An Binse Ábhar'.
