1. BBC Hull BBC Hull Interactive Televison is the BBC's pioneering broadband to tv trial on the Kingston Interactive Television (KIT) platform in Hull. The project is just one part of a much larger £25m investment initiative the BBC is making in Hull, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire - The BBC Connecting Locally - also known as Project Hull. The project has won an award for Interactive TV Services from the EMMA Foundation and was nominated for the Technical Innovation award from BAFTA. Cutting edge technology
It is one of the UK's most advanced television trials and makes use of Hull's Kingston Communication's interactive cutting edge broadband television technology. The BBC uses the platform to deliver a unique combination of traditional broadcast television, video on demand, local and national information services and next generation enhanced programming. True video on demand, fast forward, rewind and slow motion television at the touch of a button - to provide the BBC’s most advanced interactive trial service yet. BBCi Hull has built an infrastructure around open standards - using HTML and MySQl and PHP which would allow the rapid deployment of the service around the United Kingdom.
