Born in the year of '49, I was, of course, not confronted with the horrors of WW2. At the age of 17 , though, and a seagoing Navigating Cadet, I was in the thick of things during the 6-Day War in Egypt (scary for a youngster) and, a few years later spent a few uncomfortable days under 'Charlie' observation in the Far East supplying the American war effort.

Hardly worth the mention you might say when compared to the trials of the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940 as relived by my father. His story, eight pages of typewritten foolscap, I have now committed to our modern day word-processor and will be available on this site very soon.
My Father, the Guv'nor, was born Jerome James O'Donovan in 1918 and is still going strong. Both he and my Mother Joyce celebrated their 58th Wedding Anniversary last November.

So if any of the 'Old Brigade' would like to make contact then please let me know and I will be only too glad to pass on messages.
