Message 1 - Naval Pay

Posted on: 22 October 2005 by Dave Thacker

In regard to "Join the Navy and See the World:20. Money Matters", can any one explain the significance of these figures? How did pay from a Serviceman's Civil Employer prior to Volunteering come into the reckoning?
Six shillings a week doesn't sound like much to be left with!
