He wrote to his solicitor and said, 'Will you get Pam's full birth certificate?'. And we had a letter back that said, 'If you can tell me her name before she was adopted, I can get it for you'. And I had no idea that I'd been adopted! Nobody had every told me.
I always knew - all my life I'd known that I didn't fit in with the family, I always knew I didn't. I never felt right.
The initial reaction was shock, I was horrified. And then I started to think about it - and I never felt things were right, never did. I never fitted in. Because from as early as I can remember I wanted to dance, I wanted to go tap dancing and ballet dancing. I wanted to play the piano, I wanted to learn to play the piano, 'No, no, it's a waste of money' - they weren't into music. They just weren't into music but I was, you know ... from a very very tiny age. And of course it came out eventually that I came from a musical family.
