| | | The rough position as the battle began |
| | Follow the ebbs and flows of the Battle of Worcester as it developed on the 3rd of September 1651. |
 | | | At dawn on September the 3rd the Parliamentary forces made their first attacking move.
As the Scots held the bridge across the River Teme at Powick they planned to use two pontoon bridges made of boats - one across the Severn and one across the Teme, where the two rivers met.
These boats had to be dragged across stream and once these were in place Fleetwoodbegan his attack against the Scots forces commanded by Montgomery.
Deane's attempts to cross the bridge at Powick were thwarted by troops under the command of Keith.
The fighting on the flat ground around the Powick meadows was very fierce, with musketmen and pikeman fighting at close quarters.
The Parliamentary forces were unable to break the Scottish lines.
