You enter the estate, which is now maintained by the National Trust, and walk along one side of the famous walled garden, which contains a collection of old local apple trees.

The grounds are spectacular - and are the last to be designed by the legendary Capability Brown.

There are some longer walks around the Berrington pool, which is a site of special scientific interest.

The house itself has some beautifully painted ceilings, French regency furniture and the costumes from the Wade Collection.

There's a licensed cafe and a National Trust shop at the site.

You can take a virtual tour of Berrington House by looking a our panoramic pictures of the house and gardens, taken by Bob Bilsland.
