Monday at the games

Find out what happened on Monday in Åland at the 2009 Island Games.

Monday in Åland started out well for Guernsey's table tennis team as they progressed to the semi finals of the contest comprehensively beating the Shetland Islands, the Isle of Man and the Faroes and moving on to face Jersey on Tuesday.

In the Archery Guernsey's Chantelle Goubert sat at the top of the table in the Single FITA Women's Recurve with two more rounds to go.

It was also a good day for Guernsey's swimmers as Jonathon Le Noury, Ben Lowndes, Ian Hubert, Robyn Le Friec and Lotte Parfit all winning medals, including Guernsey's first golds for Ben and Robyn.

The athletics saw Guernsey pick up a more medals as Kylie Robilliard won silver in the women's 100m event, Lee Garland won silver in men's 3000m Steeplechase and Louise Perrio got gold in the women's 10000m.

In the tennis Guernsey's Patrick Ogier and Dom McLuskey won gold in the team event beating the Cayman Islands in the finals.

Following on from Sunday's bronze in the judo, Alex Mann picked up another in the 66kg category and Ben Chapple narrowly missed out on a medal coming fourth in the 81kg class.
