While there it provided support to the coalition forces in the form of personnel and supply transport. ![]() One of the Sea King's crew The helicopter's trip was organised by Ian Wilkie, who served with the Royal Navy and now lives in Guernsey. Starting with their arrival in Guernsey on Friday 8 May 2009 the helicopter and her crew attended a series of events over the weekend including fly pasts on Liberation Day and the Liberation ball. Their weekend culminated in visiting Les Rondins and Le Murier Schools on the morning of Monday 11 May. ![]() Students have a look at the Sea King The crew said that the visit "meant a hell of a lot" to the students and that the point of the activities is to help people understand what the armed forces do, which they described as a "real positive". The crew continued by saying they had "an amazing weekend" and they had been able to relax after their time in Afghanistan. While at Les Murier School some of the students had the opportunity to look around the helicopter and have a look inside. One of the students said sitting in it "felt like being in the army" while another was amazed at the controls and said "there're so many buttons!"
