It was the third day of Chaos and on arrival it seemed to me the partying was taking its toll on those who had stuck it out so far. ![]() Damaged Goods in the beer tent None the less the music was already flowing (as well as the drink) in the Beer Tent as Damaged Goods were on stage rocking their way through a set of great covers in the pub cover band style. Maybe it was too early in the day for them today but still the few at the back of the tent were nodding along. Outside on the Discharge stage acoustic act Said in Silver, or at least one and half members of the band were just getting ready. Singer and guitarist Diggi Schrader's mix of original acoustic pop-rock and cheesy pop covers (I never thought I'd enjoy the Backstreet Boys that much) was perfectly suited to the chilled out Sunday afternoon vibe and those sat looking on seemed in agreement. ![]() J.J. Corbin of Toxic Moonshine After some confusion Subversion, who were billed next, were unable to play and so an impromptu trio of musicians going by the name Toxic Moonshine and featuring J.J. Corbin on guitar and vocals continued the chilled out vibe with some acoustic blues numbers which were greatly appreciated by the small but enthusiastic crowd. The beer tent was the place to be for pop covers this afternoon as following Damaged Goods came No Paparazzi. Having made a name for themselves on the function circuit over recent years they sounded great today but did appear a little out of place on the bill for the Chaos weekend despite two members being heavily involved in other bands and rigging the sound system. Yet another pop punk band were up on the Discharge stage next in the form of It Still Stands. Despite an increased sense of confidence from front man Raddy the band seemed to suffer from the worst sound mix of the weekend which marred the set, however, once this was sorted the second half of the performance was good fun with covers of Paramore's 'Misery Business' and Rihanna's 'Umbrella' alongside a few originals. ![]() Andy of The EJs With the light hearted pop punk out the way it was now time for a relatively new band with a name I probably can't use on a BBC website, so I will call them The EJs. Featuring two former members of SPAT, a former Vietnameasle, and a guy called Chris (who was celebrating his birthday) their brand of searing punk should have been the thing to energise the afternoon. Unfortunately the crowd were having none of it and remained seated, relaxing in the sun. This didn't stop the EJs tearing through their mix of covers, of bands such as Minor Threat and the Misfits, and originals to great effect and the entire time singer Andy in full King Diamond style make up. last updated: 02/07/2008 at 11:19 SEE ALSOYou are in: Guernsey > Unsigned Bands > Reviews > Chaos gets Crazy |
