What Remainder 3's second release, the 3-track EP Sing Myself to Sleep, lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality. Continuing the atmospheric prog-indie style they showcased on their debut Southern Glitch, these three tracks highlight every aspect of the bands sound from a guitar led almost metallic sound to their vaguely 'trippy' atmospheric style. What really stands out, particularly in the first two songs, 'Sing Myself to Sleep' and 'Transmission', is the atmospheric quality the music and vocal arrangement creates which felt like it was enveloping my head in the music before working its way down through my whole being. This ability to combine both head and heart in music is no easy feat and something I feel the band should pride themselves on as many bands can achieve one or the other but few manage both in such a unique way. This EP hopefully shows that the are developing their sound toward their forthcoming full length album while not actively changing their style they seem to growing and progressing and not just repeating the same old music as before which is a trap many bands fall into. last updated: 14/10/2008 at 11:27 You are in: Guernsey > Unsigned Bands > CD Reviews > Remainder 3 - Sing Myself to Sleep |
