It's easy enough to decide to start living more healthily, but sometimes harder to turn good intentions into action. BBC Gloucestershire's Feelgood Friday event at the Learning Centre was organised with a simple message: make little changes to your lifestyle and you can make a BIG difference to your health. The day featured a range of activities, expert advice and a special appearance from the stars of BBC1's Fat Nation series. (Feel Good Friday gallery - 18 pictures)
Learning Centre manager Clare Parrack described the bustling event as "really great fun". After being swept off her feet by salsa tutor Thomas Melendez, she said: "Although we've had the Principal of Gloscat and the Managing Editor of BBC Gloucestershire through the door today, we didn't manage to get them dancing!" | | Personal fitness trainer Graeme Hilditch |
Clearly impressed by the nimble footwork of Mr Melendez, Clare said she'd "definitely recommend salsa to anyone looking for a combination of fun and exercise." Meanwhile, fitness guru Graeme Hilditch put punters through their paces on a high-tech rowing machine. Graeme, a former fitness coach with one of Australia's leading rugby teams, also spoke about the benefits of doing exercise you enjoy. To help relax after all this gruelling physical activity, participants could unwind with a free Indian head massage. Stars Stars of TV's Fat Nation and former junk-food addicts Joe Ward (right) and John Bradley, were at the Learning Centre to share the benefits of their experience. Last autumn The Fat Nation series focused on a Birmingham street where half the residents were overweight. At the end of the series they were all in far better shape thanks to the support of the F-Team experts, and the still-trim boys showed that their lifestyle changes had had a lasting effect.
