If you're having trouble viewing the panoramic images on our show and water gardens pages, the following steps should help you install the correct software.

Windows users

If you use Internet Explorer 5 or above, then your browser should have all the software needed to see the panoramas. If your security setting is 'high' then you may be presented with a security prompt asking you to agree to run the software.

If you use Firefox (and certain other browsers) you may need to install a 'Java' plugin. There's a simple installer available to update Firefox. For other browsers, it may be necessary to download the full Java Runtime package from Sun. This is an 18mb download, and may not be suitable for narrowband users.

Mac OS X users

OS X includes Java as standard, so no download should be necessary. If you use Safari you should have Java enabled by default. If you have manually disabled it in the past, you will need to enable it for the panoramas to work.

Users of Mozilla-based browsers on OS X may need to install the Java embedding plugin. Microsoft IE5 on OSX does not include a JVM. Microsoft are advising Mac users not to use IE5 on Mac.

Linux users

Linux users should install Sun's JVM and then follow the documentation for their distribution for enabling Java in their preferred browser.
