    • Malta - Claudia Faniello 'Breathlessly'

A shout out as well to Claudia Faniello from Malta who fought TEN TIMES before this to represent her country and will now be going no further. This means that Malta will continue their record of never, ever winning Eurovision.

Jana Burceska now won't be the first pregnant lady to perform in a Eurovision final and Fusedmarc will be shuffling back to their studio in Lithuania to chat things through with their imaginary friend 'Marc.'

    Commiserations all round.

  5. Spainpublished at 22:03 BST 11 May 2017

  7. Voting Has Officially Closed!published at 21:55 BST 11 May 2017

That's it! Time's up! Put your pens down and stop writing now.

Voting has closed, and there's nothing more that our contestants to convince the continent.

Is Switzerland's Timebelle about to take us a step closer to seeing a first every yellow-clad Eurovision winner?

Will Belarus's Naviband pay the price for a distinct absence of lifejackets on the good ship Story Of My Life?

All is about to be revealed...

  8. DO NOT VOTEpublished at 21:46 BST 11 May 2017

Remember, UK viewers you CANNOT vote tonight. Don't even try it.

Instead why don't you sit back and enjoy the enthusiastic folkish stylings of your Ukrainian hosts (and stars of 'The Force') Volodymyr, Oleksandr and Timur.

    Media caption,

The hosts whip out their traditional instruments.

  9. Think You Know Eurovision?published at 21:41 BST 11 May 2017

'Eurovision' and 'obsession' - two words that go together like salt and pepper, Batman and Robin or United Kingdom and 'douze points' (or so we hope).

The fact is that we just can't get enough of it. But how well do you really know the ESC?

Our friends at Radio 2 have put together a quiz about the daftest, most ridiculous moments ever to take place on the Eurovision stage. Give it a go, and let us know how you got on using #Eurovision.

    Take the quiz here.

  10. 'Everything Must Go'published at 21:38 BST 11 May 2017

We only count the five white dresses in semi final number two. Can't remember how many there were on Tuesday night, but it was a similarly large number.

They'd better watch themselves in the backstage canteen, mind. That's a serious accident waiting to happen!

IMRI claims that he knew all the words to 'We Are the Champions' at the age of 2. He also claims he used to sing it in front of friends and family at every possible occasion. Cut to Imri in a nappy screaming 'NO TIME FOR LOSERS' at his grey-haired, sleep-deprived parents.

Here is IMRI crooning out a Sam Smith song in a (completely spontaneous) set up with fellow competitors Isaiah from Australia (who's already in the final) and Brendan from Ireland (who has this highest voice in show business).

  14. Israelpublished at 21:27 BST 11 May 2017

When IMRI's not inflating his biceps to the size of small dolphins, he studies HARD like the HARD MAN he is at university.

He is currently in his second year of a Bachelor's Degree studying Visual Communications - a useful topic for a Eurovision entrant. It also probably explains the incessant pyros which are probably there to back up his (somewhat ominous) promise that his song "is going to set the stage on fire."

GET THOSE EXTINGUISHERS AT THE READY.

  15. Israelpublished at 21:26 BST 11 May 2017

NOBODY puts IMRI in the corner! Just like Serbia's Tijana earlier on in the night, this brawny hunk (who thinks sleeves are for wimps) started out as a Eurovision backing singer. If you squint really hard you can see him strutting his stuff and trying to pull focus in Nadav's 'Golden Boy' in 2015.

  16. Estoniapublished at 21:23 BST 11 May 2017

Estonia's song 'Verona' was written by Sven Lohmus who says it is a modern take on the 'Romeo and Juliet' story which he was inspired to write after a trip to the city.

Viewers watching from Stratford-Upon-Avon, that loud whirring sound you can hear is Shakespeare spinning in his grave.

  17. Estoniapublished at 21:22 BST 11 May 2017

Koit has already had a bite at the Eurovision apple and competed in 1998 in Birmingham with his grammatically-inaccurate song 'Mere Lapsed.' It looks like dressing all in white was all the rage back then as well:

Next up is Estonia who are comprised o-

WHITE DRESS ALERT! WHY ARE THEY ALL WEARING WHITE DRESSES?

…sorry, comprised of Koit Toome and 'Laura' who like Madonna, Prince and Rihanna feels that surnames are only for mere civilians.

  19. Lithuaniapublished at 21:19 BST 11 May 2017

Either way, Fusedmarc are really giving it their all and with good reason: Lithuania have never even made it to the top 5 of Eurovision.

The closest they ever got was in 2006 when LT United came 6th with the unfortunately titled 'We Are The Winners.' This perplexing entry was comprised of a bunch of men who looked like Top Gear presenters (no, not in a good way) who chanted a song which wouldn't sound out of place on a football pitch. They even brought along a megaphone.

It also involved a bald man in a suit completely losing his mind at the sight of a violin (fast forward to 1.30, trust me it's worth it):

Yes, all things considered, Fusedmarc are probably infinitely preferable - GO VIKTORIJA!

  20. Lithuaniapublished at 21:18 BST 11 May 2017

Fusedmarc are nothing if not uncoventional:

    1. For a start the lead singer Viktorija is probably the only lady in the entire room arena who isn't wearing a white dress.

    2. They have said (without a shred of irony) that their two main inspirations are Bill Gates and Jesus Christ. Care to comment Bill, external

    3. Their band name is a mashup of the words 'Fusion' and 'Marc.'

Marc, in case you were wondering is (oh god this it too good...) their "imaginary friend" who "hangs up on their wall in their studio." Apparently he's very good at "electronic devices."

Hmmm, sounds like you need to stop tying your sound technician to the wall, Fusedmarc.
