We Are Scientists are a Californian rock-outfit, formed in1997, now based in New York. The band’s name came from a random conversation they had with a sales assistant who asked if the friends were scientists while they were hiring a van.
The trio hit it big in the UK in 2005 with their debut With Love & Squalor, which went Gold on British shores and yielded the dance floor fillers “Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt”, “The Great Escape” and the aptly titled “It’s A Hit”.
Although modestly successful in the US, the outfit continued to build a significant following in Britain, their 2008 album Brain Thrust Mastery reached number 11 in the UK Album charts.
The bands fourth album, the long awaited 'TV en Français', arrived in March 2014 and has been described by the band as “pop, college rock, post-punk and even shoegaze thrown in for good measure”.
