Jazzie B. started his musical life at the tender age of 13, in a reggae band called Jah Rico. After three years of developing musical styles, Jah Rico became Soul II Soul, and found themselves in the midst of the acid house craze. Globally popular, Soul II Soul have been given the keys to no less than seven cities in the US, including LA and New York. In May 2008 Jazzie, 'the man who gave British black music a soul of its own,' won the Ivor Novello Award for inspiration. That year Jazzie was also awarded an OBE for services to music.
