Paul Weller
Paul Weller
Sun 13 Jul 2014 Main Stage
That's Entertainment!

T in the Park 2014 is lucky enough to be graced with the presence of British rock royalty.

Paul Weller was there for the punk uprising in the late 70s with The Jam, right through the 80s with the Style Council, and made a big contribution as a solo artist to the movement later known as Brit pop in the 90s. Still a relevant solo artist, his 2012 album ‘Sonik Kicks’ became his third solo effort to enter the UK charts at number one.

Born 25th of May 1958 in Woking, Weller’s obsession with The Beatles gave him the inspiration to pursue a career in music. In 1971 he formed a band with schoolmate Steve Brookes. The Jam was born soon after recruiting their drummer, and by the time bassist Bruce Foxton joined in 1974 they were gigging relentlessly as a rhythm and blues covers band.

The Jam soon became instant hit makers and their debut album ‘In the City’ entered the UK top 40. By the time ‘Going Underground’ was recorded in 1980, the single was already a guaranteed number 1. 1980's ‘Sound Affects‘ became The Jam's most commercially successful full length record and included the classics ‘Start!’ and ‘That's Entertainment.

2014 will mark Paul Weller’s fifth T appearance - he last played in 2006. A true British icon.
