Pixies
Fri 11 Jul 2014 King Tut's Wah Wah Tent
Boston T Party

Formed in Boston in 1986, Pixies are one of the most influential bands of all time.

Following an infamous split in the early 90s, the band reunited in 2004 for a series of sold out world tours. The band's current line-up consists of founders Black Francis (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar) and David Lovering (drums). Original bassist Kim Deal left the band in 2013.

Pixies were hugely influential on the booming 90s alternative rock scene, and notably an important inspiration for Kurt Cobain (having introduced the quiet-LOUD-quiet dynamic that Nirvana later popularised). Their 1989 album Doolittle has consistently been recognized as one of the best rock records of all time.

Following their 2004 appearance at T, which saw them receiving the longest ovation in the history of the festival, 2014 sees the Pixies marking their first appearance at Balado for a decade.
