Lucia were on the first 50 bands selected for next year's Great Escape festival, which champions the best new musical acts around in Brighton each summer.

Huw Stephens gave them a play on Radio 1 and now they've followed that showcase up with a shiny new music video for their single, Cheap Talk.

They may sound like Garbage but the Glaswegians seem to have taken their video cues from Ariana Grande.

"Cheap Talk, where all my chick flick dreams came true," said frontwoman Lucia Fairfull.

"This song was made for the mean girls, so it would have been rude not to!"

The track is taken from their new EP, which is out now, and you can check it out above.

But will you still be singing it next summer?

Another one of our hotly-tipped Newbie Tuesday acts, Skinny Pelembe has been bringing his eclectic vibes to the 6 Music Live Room.

Listen below from around two hours seven minutes in, as the Doncaster singer performs for his new best friend, DJ Tom Ravenscroft.

The Staveley-Taylor sisters, better known as The Staves, have shared a new Christmas tune in time for the festive season.

Its a bit downbeat and features the girls singing about being lonesome.

The harmonies are heartwarming even if the lyrics aren't.

Unloved performed a wonderful set at London's Hoxton Hall last night, marred only by Keefus Ciancia's double keyboard packing in before the end.

Thankfully they were able to resurrect the electronic instrument and finish their set, which included performances of new tracks and songs from their debut album, Guilty of Love - though you may know them better as the soundtrack to Killing Eve.

Before the gig, the seven-piece band - minus composer David Holmes - popped into 6 Music for a session and you can check out the majestic When a Woman is Around, above.

For now all we have is a clip of Canadian singer/songwriter Jessie Reyez emerging from some freshly dug earth before being confronted by an eerily silent Marshal Mathers in a kitchen.

Let's hope she's only using that knife she grabs to spread some toast.

Duff McKagan saysd he is going to release a solo album in 2019, inspired by his reunited band's massive world tour.

“The heartbreak, anger, fear, confusion and divide I have experienced over the last two and a half years of travelling this globe of ours coerced these words into songs that tell my truth," he said.

"I do this for my daughters…I do this for my love of where I grew up… I do this, because I truly feel it must be done and said right now.”

It's apparently a musical sequel to his 2015 book How to Be a Man (and Other Illusions).

The Scots singer and former Newbie Tuesday artist made the headlines last week when he was nominated for the Brits Critics' Choice Award, alongside Mahalia and Sam Fender.

Rather than resting on his laurels Lewis has recorded a stripped-back rendition of his track, Someone You Loved - from his new EP, Breach, live at London Road Fire Station in Manchester.

We've no idea why he was there and the room sure needs a lick of paint but the acoustics are great.

Billie Marten's Blue Sea, Red Sea featured as Annie Mac's Hottest Record on Radio 1 recently.

This came just a year after the 19-year-old was diagnosed with severe seasonal affective disorder (SAD).

It's a type of depression caused by changes in the seasons, particularly in the winter, and is estimated to affect one in 15 people in the UK.

The indie band, led by singer and novelist Louise Wener are back after a lonnnnng layoff with the new track Look At You Now.

It precedes a new album called The Modern Age which is due out in march next year.

The band - who split in 1998, reformed for some shows earlier in the year and it looks like they've managed to capture some of the old magic.

Check them out in their Britpop heyday below, partying in a supermarket with the late Dale Winton.

The nominations for next year's movie awards have been read out and the category for best original song is star-studded, to say the least.

The shortlist includes Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's Shallow, from A Star is Born.

Gaga also finds herself nominated for an acting award for the movie.

Her song is up against Kendrick Lamar and SZA's All The Stars, from Black Panther and Dolly Parton's Girl in the Movies (below).

Also shortlisted is Requiem for a Private War, by Annie Lennox from the movie of pretty much the same name about the late war correspondent Marie Colvin.

It's Annie's first new song in eight years.

Rounding off the list is Revelation by Troye Sivan and Jonsi from Sigur Rós's track from the movie Boy Erased.

The nominations for best original score were also announced and it's an all-male affair.

Marco Beltrami for A Quiet Place, Alexandre Desplat for Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs, Ludwig Goransson for Black Panther, Justin Hurwitz for First Man and Marc Shaiman for Mary Poppins Returns.

The awards will be handed out on 6 January.

Announcing its lineup for 2019 earlier today, the Barcelona music fest claimed it's the first major event to have at least as many top female artists on the bill as men.

Other major festivals have come in for criticism in recent years for having male-dominated rosters.

Primavera Sound organisers are describing the move as "the new normal".

Liam McMillen on Twitter (below) is applauding the move, writing "This is how you book a festival in 2019."

Baby Godzilla (above) generally agrees, saying that the better-balanced lineup has helped her to "not lose faith in humanity."

Others like Paul and David (below), however, are less impressed with the names playing next year's event..

You can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all the people all the time...

MTV is breathing new life into Celebrity Deathmatch, the claymation shorts which pit celebs against each other in a fight to the death.

Rapper/actor Ice Cube will have a starring role and his Cube Vision production company will come on board to make the show.

The original Celebrity Deathmatch ran for six series between 1998 and 2007.

Check out the pairing of Simon Cowell and Ryan Secret above if you don't mind cartoonish violence.

In you're wondering, she's named after her dad Offset from Migos' trilogy of albums - which we think is a lovely touch.

Cardi announced yesterday that her and the baby daddy have split but that she's "always gonna have a lot of love for him" because of the nipper.

The sister of the man who died during a Bring Me The Horizon gig in London has paid tribute to her brother and called for the rock community to look after each other at gigs in his memory.

Ali Mills, who was 25, died during a performance at Alexandra Palace.

He had a hole in his heart and his family understand he went into cardiac arrest while in a mosh pit at the gig.

"He went to many live gigs, many concerts," his sister Nicola tells Newsbeat.

"It sounds very clichéd to say this because everyone says this about their loved ones, but he really was the most kind, caring and gentle person you could have ever met."

The controversial singer will release California Son next year and has shared the official track listing, external for the record.

It includes Jobraith's Morning Starship, Don't Interrupt the Sorry by Joni Mitchell and Roy Orbison's It's Over.

Morrissey will also perform covers of Bob Dylan, Dionne Warwick and Carly Simon.

It won't, however, include his cover of The Pretenders' Back on The Chain Gang, which he has been playing on his tour.

Brooklyn rapper 2 Milly claims the dance known in the online video game as Swipe is derived from his own signature Milly Rock move.

Milly - real name Terrence Ferguson - told a federal court in Los Angeles that Epic Games misappropriated his moves without giving him credit or cash.

“They never even asked my permission,” he said in a statement.

The Milly Rock dance, from his song of the same name, was one of the crazes of the summer of 2015.

Manchester United fans may even have seen last night's hero Jesse Lingard performing the very same move round about that time.

Somehow, miraculously the world continued to turn after Ed was given a dressing down online for dressing down opposite a dressed up Beyonce at the Global Citizen charity gig in South Africa at the weekend.

Now the scruffy singer has addressed the trolling with a Perfect (see what we did?) response on his Instagram stories.

Acknowledging the criticism, he cheekily wrote: “Swipe up to ‘get the look'" alongside the hashtag #dresstoimpress.

Of all the parts of your body to bruise, the vocal cords sounds particularly painful - especially for a singer.

Justin has apologised to fans having been forced to postpone a series of tour dates due to a lingering throat issue.

On doctor's orders, he's pulled out of the remaining eight gigs of 2018, which will affect readers in the USA.

"My vocal cords are healing but they are not all the way back to normal yet," he said in a statement on social media, promising to reschedule the concerts.

“I’m really sorry," he added.

Basically Justin has finished work for Christmas early, as his next scheduled gig is on 4 January in Washington.
