  3. How to get your hands on the Grateful Dead's signature guitar...published at 15:34 BST 9 May 2017

    Jerry GarciaImage source, Roberto Rabanne

Jerry Garcia's favourite guitar, Wolf, could be yours at auction later this month.

The instrument was one of five which Deadheads - the name of true fans of the seminal US rockers - have identifed as key to ther band's sound.

The others are Alligator, Rosebud, Lightning Bolt and Tiger.

If it helps, think of them as the Baby, Sporty, Scary, Posh and Ginger of rawk memorabilia.

You'll need to splash some cash though as Tiger and Wolf were auctioned together in 2002 and made more than $1.5m (£1.2m).

Now Wolf is back at the same auction house to benefit the advocacy group the Southern Poverty Law Center.

    TMZ

    TMZ certainly thinks so.

Yesterday we told you how the US rapper had mysteriously disappeared from social media completely (again).

Now the US website is reporting the reason is that he's holed up in a studio in the Wyoming mountains, recording a follow-up to last year's Life of Pablo.

Maybe that's why he's off social media. No broadband. Simple as that.

We can't be sure but this Instagram post below from band member Matt Helders, of his mic'd up drum kit, seems to suggest something is going on.

The Sheffield drummer did play on Iggy Pop's recent album and tour but that's over now...

...and we can't quite see his trademark 0114 Sheffield postcode drum logo from this angle.

This latest post comes a few weeks after photographer Daniele Cavalli posted the below pic of Matt's Arctic Monkeys bandmate Alex Turner at the piano.

    What could this all mean?

Their last album AM came out in 2013.

Admittedly we could have this wrong and they could be producing a picture guide to their favourite music studios.

    Stay tuned.

  6. Femi Kuti's attempt at world record falls short by 30 secondspublished at 14:51 BST 9 May 2017

    Femi KutiImage source, Getty Images

This news will come as a real blow to Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti, the eldest son of pioneer Fela Kuti, who was left with a sour taste in his mouth this weekend after thinking he had broken a world record for the longest single note played on a wind instrument.

The Nigerian star held a single note on his saxophone for 46 minutes and 38 seconds at a gig in Lagos - a feat achieved by circular breathing, a technique whereby you breathe in continuously through your nose while sustaining the tone of a note.

He thought the note was enough to beat a 45-minute record set by Kenny G - much loved by MOR mums the world over - in 1997.

However, the record is actually held by Vann Burchfield, who, in 2000, held a note for 47 minutes and 5.5 seconds.

Femil has taken the news extremely well however.

  7. The BBC letter which banned The Beatles goes viralpublished at 14:35 BST 9 May 2017

    The BeatlesImage source, Getty Images

There will be lots of material coming over the next few months on the BBC celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' Sgt Pepper album.

But, the Fab Four weren't always so fab in the eyes of Auntie Beeb as a new letter uncovered by the Beatles' fanclub has revealed.

The letter, written by the BBC's director of sound broadcasting Frank GIllard, external details the corporations reasons for banning the album's closing track A Day In The Life.

Frank explains: "We cannot avoid coming to the conclusion that the words "I'd love to turn you on", followed by that mounting montage of sound, could have a rather sinister meaning.

    Quote Message

The recording may have been made in innocence and good faith, but we must take account of the interpretation many young people would inevitably put upon it. 'Turned on' is a phrase which can be used in many different circumstances, but it is currently much in-vogue in the jargon of drug addicts".

The ban was eventually lifted on 13 March 1972. A short five years later
