He confessed to being a bit jet-lagged last night - not that you could tell - but now after a good sleep hopefully the multi-instrumentalist will be speaking to 6 Music's Steve Lamacq at 17:30 BST.

Apparently. he has news. Perhaps he's selling his two turntables and his microphone...

    Stay tuned.

Well seeing as it is John Lennon's 77th birthday today, let's have a look at his number one fan Liam Gallagher snarling out a rendition of the Lennon-led opening track from The Beatles classic Abbey Road album this weekend in California.

The Manc singer, whose debut solo album As You Were is currently outselling the rest of the UK Top 20 combined, joined curators Foo Fighters on stage at their Cal Jam festival gig for a cover of Come Together.

Check out some fan shot footage of the jam, which also included Aerosmith's Joe Perry above.

Unusually for Liam, who normally remains rooted to the spot, the 45-year-old newly solo rock 'n' roller then descended into the crowd while the band played on.

    What happens in California...

  4. Belinda Carlisle: Still in Heaven?published at 15:09 BST 9 October 2017

    Belinda CarlisleImage source, Sheila Rock

Belinda Carlisle is releasing her first album in a decade, Wilder Shores, which is built around the Kundalini yoga chants that helped her recovery from a severe cocaine addiction.

After two decades, though, the singer finally got clean after hearing a voice telling her: "You are going to be found dead in a hotel if you don't stop."

On the phone from Brighton, she told the BBC's Mark Savage about that record, the 30th anniversary of the Heaven On Earth album and what it's like to be covered in spit at a punk show.

"I have an original voice," says Belinda Carlisle,

"It may not be the best voice but it's distinct and I think that's what has carried me through the years."

James Lavelle (UNKLE) on why we should favour human interaction over digital technology.

Well presumably if you're reading this then you're doing so via the world wide web.

We tried standing on the street corner and yelling Music News LIVE through a loudspeaker but it was proving a logistical nightmare.

One man who is concerned about the over-use of technology and the internet in music is James Lavelle of UNKLE.

He caught up with 6 Music's Mary Anne Hobbes, following the release of UNKLE's first album in seven years, and delivered a three Minute Epiphany on the importance of valuing human interaction over virtual engagement.

    Check it above.

Louise and Jamie RedknappImage source, Getty Images

London pop star Louise has confirmed that she and ex footballer husband Jamie Redknapp are living apart.

The 42-year-old former Eternal singer told The Telegraph's Stella magazine that she still loves her "amazing" husband of almost 20 years but that it was time to focus on finding herself once more and she felt she had become "a sort of Stepford Wife".

Last year's Celebrity Strictly Come Dancing finalist said: "I feel I'm coming back to who I really am.

"I have spent most of my life pleasing everyone else, worrying about being judged and thinking I should always do the right thing by staying at home, looking after my kids and my husband."

She is currently starring opposite Will Young in Cabaret and is playing a handful of live solo dates later this year.

    Quote Message

I think this happens to a lot of women when they get married and have children. You have this feeling deep inside you, 'Where did I go?' But I pushed those thoughts away."

She added: "I'd think of my past life as a pop star as being 'not reality'. Looking after the house and my family was my reality.I became a sort of Stepford Wife, wanting to be perfect at it."

A music festival at which men will be banned looks like it could go ahead next year after organisers raised than 500,000 Swedish krona (£47,000) on a crowdfunding website.

The event, announced by Swedish comic Emma Knyckare in July, followed reports of rape and sexual assault at Bravalla, the country's biggest music festival, for a second year running.

Bravalla has been cancelled for next year while bands, including Mumford & Sons, (above) said they were boycotting the event in protest

"What do you think about putting together a really cool festival where only non-men are welcome?" she tweeted.

She said it would take place "until all men have learned how to behave".

The new event will invite cis - a term for people whose gender identity matches the sex that they were assigned at birth - women, trans women and those who identify as non-binary to attend.

So, more of you have had chance by now to listen to Noel's new track Holy Mountain.

Scroll down this page to hear it for yourself.

It turns out a few more people have noted a comparison to a certain Latino singer.

H thinks Ricky Martin will be on the blower "very soon". Others like Danny (below) however think the only comparison to Ricky's "she bangs, she bangs" is the line "she fell, she fell".

We think Ricky's records would slip seamlessly into Noel's collection. Somewhere in between Otis Reading and The Rolling Stones.

Californian guitar hero Beck gave a live debut to new track Up All Night from his forthcoming album Colours at an intimate secret cash-only gig in London on Sunday night.

Around 100 or so fast-thinking and excitable fans packed into the Omeara venue near London Bridge to see the 47-year-old and his eight strong band squeeze on to the small stage and play a best of set ahead of his appearance on Later... with Jools Holland on Tuesday.

An admittedly jet-lagged Beck, who had earlier landed from LA, told the crowd: "We're gonna start slow tonight then get going later. Like we're opening up for ourselves!"

Good to his word, after beginning with a series of low-key acoustic country ballads such as Blue Moon off Grammy Award-winning last record Morning Phase from 2014, Beck strapped on the electric guitar and ran through hits old and new including Dreams (the first single off the new album), Devil's Haircut, Loser and an extended finale of Where It's At.

Plus of course the new single, which goes a little something like this...

He added: "I've just had an idea, why don't we just tour this gig around the world. Everybody just come with us and we'll just play this gig in different places!"

Most of the Sunday night revelers seemed well up for that plan, conditional on funding of course.

After paying tribute to Tom Petty, the singer introduced the band by running through an apparently impromptu mini-medley of quick covers including The Clash's London Calling, Once In a Lifetime by Talking Heads, Gary Numan's Cars and a joyous chorus of Donna Summer's dancefloor-filler I Feel Love.

If this is what Beck and his crew sound like when they're jamming jet-lagged, then we're all in for a real treat tomorrow night on the telly once they've all had a good kip and a full English.

Tune in from 22:00 on BBC Two.

Colors; his 13th studio album, is out on Friday.
