    That's the spirit SuRie.

That last time the UK won was in 1997, when Katrina and the Waves shone a light into every corner of the competiton in Dublin.

Now, the Annie Lennox lookalike will represent GB in Lisbon on Saturday 12 May.

She's just been on the BBC News Channel claiming her track can go down a Storm - literally.

"Anything can go at Eurovision - so why not Storm?"

She added: "All I can do is focus on my performance and doing myself proud."

The UK have won the tournament five times in total.

The GB hopeful, who is off on tour after the event, it's keen to hear what direction the legendary foursome will go in.

"It's amazing news, what a legendary group.

"I can't wait to hear what they do."

Good luck in Portugal SuRie and remember - the winner takes it all...

The former Dr Feelgood guitarist and more lately, SerIlyn Payne, in Game of Thrones has been telling Radio 2's Simon Mayo about a secret skill of his that might have come in handy on set.

Handy that is, if his character - the mute knight and royal executioner - hadn't had his tongue chopped off.

The musician, who beat terminal pancreatic cancer in 2014, is pretty good at reciting Icelandic sagas.

  7. Kanye and Kim (Kimye) have a no phones rule in the housepublished at 15:02 BST 1 May 2018

    Image caption,

Kim: Kanye are you Tweeting Donald again?

Which is ironic really given the sheer volume of tweets the rapper has sent in the last week or so.

Mrs K-West has been giving a full and frank interview with US TV chat show host Ellen DeGeneres and revealed a rather surprising house rule.

Kim told Ellen; "[Kanye] always talks about how we should not have our phones first thing in the morning.

"And in the house when we're with the kids, let's not have our phones. It's our rule that we really try to live by."

Well, wherever Kanye is tweeting from, he is doing it A LOT, as regular readers of MNL will know. The rapper's wife admitted that she is as confused as the rest of us over his latest social media onslaught.

"I didn't even know he got his Twitter again - until I started seeing tweets come in from other people, retweeting them," Kim said.

"I was like, 'Wait, is this real?' At night, he came in and was like, 'Did you see my tweets??!'"

One tweet in particular (out of the many million) caught Kim's eye and demanded a response.

"What did he mean?," asked Ellen.

"I don't know... it didn't mean EVERYTHING," Kim said, with slight uncertainty in her voice.

We kicked off May Day (that's today by the way - can you believe it?) with a new music video from Led Zep legend Robert Planet.

Well there's plenty more where that came from so let's have it, starting with 2014 Mercury Prize-winners Young Fathers.

The Scots hip hop act have shared a new video for their track Toy, taken from their new album Cocoa Sugar.

The video contains some "silly little boys" acting as world leaders.

    Interpret that as you wish.

Sadly, you'll have to find it yourself as there's a naughty swearword. We'd have expected better from a father but there you go.

Comprised of models and dancers Fab Morven and Rob Pilatus, the duo, who formed in Munich, mimed to all of their big hits like Girl You Know It's True (below).

The big reveal, which came via their manager, left their reputation in tatters and a few years later Rob died from a drug overdose.

Now Fab (above left) has been speaking to 5 live about how hard it was to keep the secret.

"People want to talk to you, people want to have you in interviews, obviously we had very thick accents at the time so the pressure was mounting."

In 2016, Alex Gray was detained indefinitely under the mental health act after sending abusive letters and breaking into her home over a seven year plus period.

The 32-year-old said; “I had a stalker about two and a half years ago, and it was a really horrendous experience.

“He broke into my house, and it later transpired that he did intend to kill me. That really spun me out.

"When a crime is committed, their point of reference to how serious it is, is how the police take it.”

The Londoner, who said she has channeled the experience into her forthcoming album No Shame - out in June - added: "I just became incredibly isolated.

  14. Newbie Tuesday #25: Derby grime star Eyez pays musical tribute to Mo Salahpublished at 12:32 BST 1 May 2018

    Kev Geoghegan
    Music News LIVE reporter

    EyezImage source, Eyez

How do you get a football club interested in helping release a track you've written about their star forward?

Can't be easy, when that club is Liverpool and that star is PFA Player of the Year Mo Salah

But, according to Derby grime artist Eyez, it was pretty straightforward.

"I hit up Liverpool's social accounts," explains the 25-year-old..

"He is the man, I got into contact with Liverpool and they're going to post it, I haven't heard from Mo but his agent is really loving it, I'm going to try and get him in the video."

And why not - you can check out a snippet below, it also answers the age of old question of, 'What rhymes with Mo Salah?'

    Media caption,

Derby grime star Eyez and his ode to Liverpool footballer Mo Salah

"I've got this weird plan to mix sports and music," Eyez continues. "So I've done a track about Joe Joyce the boxer and I'm going to perform it at the Haye vs Bellew fight on Saturday in front of 30,000 people.

"I'm trying to break boundaries that no grime artists are doing. I've also done a song for Adam Peaty the swimmer - he's from Derby not far from me.

"I'm going to get him into the video, we were going to make it funny like me swimming against him, maybe get him on the mic".

You can forgive Eyez some lofty ambitions as he is making waves in a musical genre that is more traditionally associated with London.

There are of course notable exceptions of the likes of Manchester's Bugsy Malone and Birmingham's Dapz on the Map - who supported Skepta on tour.

A regular freestyle battler, Eyez led a team from Derby to win Redbull’s Grime-A-Side tournament in 2016.

Whilst he sells out shows in his hometown and as far afield as Amsterdam, Berlin, Barcelona and Dubai, Eyez admits selling tickets in the grime capital can be a challenge.

"A lot of people don't see Derby as a city, for them it's just countryside and grime is from the streets - I think a lot of people in London appreciate I come from Derby and respect me but some people think they can't relate to you.

"From such a small city as Derby it's hard for some people to come to terms that there's a rapper from here, let alone a grime MC but abroad they don't know the difference."

But he says hailing from the midlands does have its benefits, not least, because it makes him that much hungrier to succeed.

"Playing a gig can cost me £100 where it probably costs most London artists a ticket on the underground.

"I probably work harder there than I do at home because I need to prove myself and make my name.

    Quote Message

It's not all bad coming from Derby, I've got my whole city behind me, especially early on in my career, they're really proud that someone from Derby is representing music.

    Quote Message

If I wanted I could do my whole career in Derby because it's got to the stage that if I play a gig at home, it's sold out straightaway.

Independent artist Eyez released his latest EP Square One in February, with the first single Innit (above).

"The video only cost me about £80, maybe £100 because I filmed it in Sheffield and I had to get the train but it didn't cost much, we rented out the derelict building for an hour."

Just a couple of years back, he was still working full time, in a call centre and then a warehouse in a DIY store.

"I've been doing this for about ten years but properly for about five years since my daughter was born because that was a kick up the bum.

"Maybe the last two years, the money has meant that I didn't need to work, I could quit my job."

Despite having that ethos of independence which defines grime, from artists like Stormzy to Skepta, Eyes says that signing with a major label would allow him to realise his creative dream.

"I need more, I'm 25 now and I'm trying to make the quality good so having an £80 video looks alight, but it don't look the best.

"What I have in my head is not impossible but it's very hard to do it independently - I'd say 80 percent of grime artists are coming from places where money is an issue, no-one has those kinds of funds.

"Most of my friends who rap never see that kind of money and it is life changing but recently grime has a lot of different people, you could be from Derby like me or an eight-bedroom house somewhere else it doesn't matter as long as your telling your story.

"I always had the thought [grime] would work and believed it could happen form me, otherwise I wouldn't have done it for so long."

Synth pop rockers and internet search term trailblazers Chvrches release their darkly-titled third album Love is Dead at the end of the month, ahead of their performance at Radio 1's Biggest Weekend in Swansea.

The band have been talking BBC Music reporter Mark Savage through the political heartbreak album.

The Scots band recently relocated to the US and singer Lauren has explained how the move informed the record.

    Quote Message

It's a typically Glaswegian thing to do, to feel the most misanthropic and macabre when you're in the sunniest place on earth.

The band worked with Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics and although the songs he produced didn't make the album, his unconventional techniques had a profound impact.

"Every evening he does Martini hour," said Lauren.

"And one night, out of nowhere, he just turned around and said, 'You know, I think that you want to be this punk rock Joan of Arc of pop music - so why don't you just stop complaining and do it already?'

    Quote Message

I was shocked and mildly offended at first. But I kept thinking about it in the taxi on the way home.

"I thought 'I don't know if I feel like that, but if he can see it in me, I should probably think about it.'"

The singer - who has been accused of sexual misconduct - has called the Time's Up Movement's support for the #MuteRKelly campaign "unjust and off-target".

Labels, businesses and music venues promoting Kelly, whose real name is Robert Kelly, are to be targeted.

The decision, led by the Women of Colour (WOC) group, includes director Ava Duvernay and singer Janelle Monae.

A statement urged women to dream "free from sexual assault, abuse and predatory behaviour".

"We demand appropriate investigations and inquiries into the allegations of R. Kelly's abuse made by women of colour and their families for over two decades now."

The renewed focus on Kelly follows a recent BBC Three documentary, which attempted to break down an alleged "wall of silence" around historic sexual abuse allegations involving Kelly.

The Bump n' Grind singer's management have responded saying: "We understand criticising a famous artist is a good way to draw attention to those goals – and in this case, it is unjust and off-target".

They go on to say: "We will vigorously resist this attempted public lynching of a black man who has made extraordinary contributions to our culture."
