"We are very distraught about this as we are in Glasgow now and were very much looking forward to this show as one the highlights of our tour.

So did anybody catch the new Edgar Wright film Baby Driver yet?

It's certainly on our things to do list this week.

The Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz director's latest effort centres around a music-mad getaway driver who times/soundtracks his escapes to his favourite songs

If this plot sounds familiar to you music lovers then that's because it probably is.

Edgar first used a similar character - played by Noel Fielding - in the video for Manchester band Mint Royale's 2003 track Blue Song (below).

In an interview with GQ, the director said: "Initially I was mad at myself. I thought, I've burned this great idea for a movie on this video.

"But then it would be something where I could always point to it and people sort of said, 'Oh, your movie's like Drive or your movie's like Guardian.' I would say, 'Well, let me refer to this video I made in 2003.'"

Always good to leave a digital paper trail.

Okay, you've got 2 min 54 secs guys. Go get them.

  9. Lift music from Anna Meredith - quite literallypublished at 14:17 BST 4 July 2017

    BBC 6 Music

    Media caption,

Anna Meredith tells us about the 'Music for a Busy City' project

More from the Manchester International Festival now, where six leading composers are being taken out of the comfort of the concert hall and into public spaces in the city to make music for passers-by.

Music for a Busy City sees Matthew Herbet, Mohammed Fairouz, Olga Neuwirth, Philip Venables, Huang Ruo and Anna Meredith provide soundscapes for places around Manchester from shopping centres and train stations, to the town hall.

We can all agree that waiting for/in an elevator is one of the low points of one's day but Anna Meredith is helping to - ahem - lift the mood somewhat with a bit of music.

For her project she's selected a walkway between two department stores which have lifts either side. Her unique soundtrack is called Chorale for Lifts and is directly affected by the lifts movement as they travel up and down.

  11. Lucy Rose dishes the dirt (literally) on festival lifepublished at 13:22 BST 4 July 2017

    Mark Savage
    Music reporter

    Lucy Rose

Folk singer Lucy Rose popped in to see Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music this morning, where she played a few songs from her new album Something's Changing, which is out on Friday.

You can listen to the performances now.

She's releasing the album after a unique DIY tour of South America earlier this year. It came about after the singer spotted her songs were constantly being streamed in places like Paraguay and Ecuador. Inspired, she got in touch with fans on the continent, and put on gigs in their hometowns.

Since the tour ended, she's been playing festivals in the UK, including Glastonbury, where we had a brief chat about her new music and the backstage facilities.

What sort of audience do you get at a festival?

Hopefully I’ll have some people that know my stuff and will sing along with me; and probably there’ll be a few people who haven’t heard me before who’ll just be walking past. That’s the beauty of festivals - you get to play to a crowd bigger than you ever would normally. Hopefully I can win some people over.

Do you worry about breaking out the new material before the album's released?

There’s three songs from the new record that are already out, so I feel less guilty about playing those because people might have heard those ones.

Describe the backstage area for us: Is assume it's a paradise of tranquility with caviar and prosecco on tap?

I wouldn’t say backstage is 100 times better than being a regular punter. It’s pretty similar really. People always talk about the mud at Glastonbury - but if it’s going to be muddy out the front it’ll be muddy backstage too. That’s just the way it is.

Don't you even get a celebrity toilet?

No! That's the one perk I'd die for. Seriously, if I even had one celebrity toilet I’d be going wild. I’m looking at one green portaloo and it’s Sunday afternoon. So you can imagine what’s going through my head right now.

I might just hold it in. I have just come back from India, so I feel like I can do anything now.

Because that is what he seems to be claiming in his new track Hypocrisy.

We can't share it here because the language gets a little bit on the frank side for us but in the track, Skepta says: "Just came back from the Ivors / And look at what we collected / The MBE got rejected / I'm not trying to be accepted."

An MBE, an award within the British Honours System, is handed out for contributions to arts and sciences or who work with charities.

The Cabinet Office, which issues the list, has told Newsbeat that won't comment on his claim..

On Monday's Music News LIVE, we heard from the star of the new film about Smiths frontman Morrissey's formative years and now one of his early friends has taken to social media to attack the film.

James Maker, who befriended the young star before he found fame with the Smiths, wrote on Facebook, external:

"According to the trailer of 'England Is Mine', Morrissey was an autistic, retiring creature with both curly hair and a natural crimp, who had to be physically pushed into becoming a singer by a well-meaning friend (one who did not actually communicate with Morrissey throughout The Smiths' success)."

In the film's defence, Mr Maker's attack seems to be solely based on watching the trailer.

    Quote Message

The premise that if Morrissey could be a singer, then anybody could, is disingenuous, and rather insulting to his original talent as an artist.

Actor Jack Lowden, who plays Morrissey in the film admits he hasn't heard from the singer yet but that "knowing him, he will hate it".
