  5. Ryan Tedder is feeling freepublished at 15:03 BST 8 August 2017

    Ryan TedderImage source, Getty Images

OneRepublic haven't been releasing any singles recently (since October to be precise) and Ryan Tedder says he is very happy about that.

He's told Schon magazine, external that "it's been the most freeing nine months I've had in 10 years because I don't have to do any promo."

    Quote Message

I think being able to just release music as you see fit makes it so much easier. Plus, the world kind of tells you what song they love. No Vacancy - which we put out back in April - could've easily gone to radio...The song is now closing in on 100 million streams and it’s something we have done zero work behind. This doesn’t mean we won’t release singles in the future, but not always. We will but as and when."

As ever, hitmaker Tedder is in demand as a songwriter and producer and has been working with an extensive list of artists, including Paul McCartney who made a big impression.

    Quote Message

I did a session last week with Camila Cabello and I'm really happy with it. I'm really excited about the Paul McCartney stuff. Beyond happy, it's probably my favourite session ever. I'd go as far as saying my favourite week in my life was working with Paul McCartney. The U2 album is shaping up and sounding incredible. I also got to do stuff with The Killers on their upcoming album."

  6. Leeds Festival plan to ReBalance genders in line-upspublished at 14:53 BST 8 August 2017

Ellie Goulding at GlastonburyImage source, Getty Images

There has been a lot of talk lately about the lack of women artists signed up for festivals this year - Ellie Goulding is just one who has hit out at the male-dominated line-ups.

Well today to answer that criticism the boss of Reading and Leeds festival, Melvin Benn, has launched a scheme to get more female and female-led acts on festival line-ups.

ReBalance is a collaboration between Benn's company Festival Republic and the music charity PRS Foundation.

The Leeds-based, three year programme will provide one week’s studio recording time to a core female band, female musician or female solo artist each month.

At the end of each year, Festival Republic will give the successful acts a slot at a Festival Republic or Live Nation Festival.

The project will also offer studio apprenticeships.

A recent report by PRS Foundation showed women make up just 16% of UK songwriters and composers and that there is a lack of women in other roles across the industry.

Swift, 27, says that broadcaster David Mueller slipped his hand under her dress while they posed together at one of her concerts in 2013.

Mueller sued first, saying that Swift's allegation cost him his job.

Swift countersued one month later, describing the groping incident as "completely intentional".

  15. Johnny Marr appears on new Hans Zimmer live albumpublished at 11:42 BST 8 August 2017

    Johnny MarrImage source, PA

The former Smiths, The The, Electronic, Modest Mouse, Cribs (need we go on?) guitar maestro appears on Live In Prague.

Recorded on the German film composer's recent tour, it includes music from the movies Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar and more.

While Johnny may have been one half of the great Smiths song-writing team, here he finds himself as merely one part of a 72-piece band.

You can check it out from 3 November.

    Hans ZimmerImage source, Getty Images

Last year, Hans spoke to the BBC's Rebecca Jones from the Today programme and explained his reasons for getting the Mancunian guitar god involved.

He said: "I'm a very poor but enthusiastic guitarist. If I put the guitar on I'm sort of fine. It's like you can hide behind that. If you ask me to go and play the piano or actually speak to people in public it's just terrifying."

He added: "We're not playing exactly the way you heard in the film because I'm not a fool I've got a really great band with me. I've got Johnny Marr on guitar, I've got Mike Einziger (Incubus) on guitar, I have Richard Harvey (Gryphon) on assorted panpipes, I've got Lebo M who I did Lion King with and I think something happens with these extraordinary musicians. It's not just me and a dodgy piano."

Fun fact: Did you know that Hans actually appeared on synth duties in the Buggles video for Video Killed the Radio Star’, which was the first ever video played on MTV in 1979?

    Well you do now.

Now from a trippy video to some equally trippy new musical artwork...

Fifth Harmony have had massive worldwide success after forming on X Factor USA in 2012.

Work From Home racked up more than a billion hits - one more time: a billion - on YouTube, the band released two well-received albums and they seemed to have the world at their feet.

    But then, five became four.

Camila Cabello left the group in December and has since gone on to have considerable success as a solo artist.

Her debut solo single Crying In The Club has been lingering around the top 20 for several weeks, and she released two new songs on Friday which are rapidly climbing the charts.

So, where does that leave 5H?

They're powering on as a four-piece, but their most recent single Down hasn't quite caught fire as much as some of their previous work.

So the band will be hoping to recapture the music industry's attention with their new self-titled album - which is released later this month.

Just make sure you have a pair of 3D glasses handy when looking at the album cover, which they revealed on Twitter last night.
