Poet Kate Tempest in up for the Mercury Prize this week for a second time.

This time around she is nominated for her brilliant takedown of modern society Let The Eat Chaos.

In 2014, she was nominated for her debut solo album Everybody Down.

"It's really exciting, a bit weird yeah," she told 6 Music's Tom Ravenscroft.

"It's interesting going through the process again because the first time I was a bag of nerves and couldn't really take anything in.

"[Now] I can be in the room a bit more calmly."

The Kingston-Upon-Thames alt rock trio had the honour bestowed upon new track Indigo by Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac last night.

Andy from the band spoke to Annie on the blower from a Danish airport about the stripped-back new tune, ahead of the release of their new album Melancholia Hymns on Friday.

He said: "It [Indigo] was a real turning point for us on the record...

"Maybe it's the first anti-Arcane Roots song!"

US rocker and would-be senator Kid Rock has hit back at civil rights groups who are demanding that he cancels a series of forthcoming gigs in Detroit.

Rock, who announced his intention to stand for US Senate earlier this year, has been criticized for his support of President Donald Trump, use of the Confederate flag and his comments against American Football player and black rights protester Colin Kaepernick.

In a new statement entitled: "People! Pay NO attention to the garbage the extreme left is trying to create!", Rock wrote: "My track record in Detroit and Michigan speaks for itself, and I would dare anyone talking trash to put theirs up against mine.

He added: “I will always stand up for myself, my family, my friends, my fans, my city, my state, my country and the good in human nature!”

Rock signs off his email in bizarre fashion with: “P.P.P.P.P.S. I LOVE BLACK PEOPLE!!”

Virgil Howe, the drummer for Nottingham rockers Little Barrie and son of Yes guitarist Steve Howe, has died suddenly at the age of 41.

The band called his death "sudden and unexpected" adding his death has come "as an incredible shock to his friends and family".

The band, which famously played the intro music to the hit drama series, Breaking Bad spin-off Better call Saul (below), had been in rehearsals for a UK tour.

"We are heartbroken that we have lost our dear friend and brother Virgil Howe," said singer and guitarist Barrie Cadogan.

"Our thoughts are with his daughter, family and partner.

“I am utterly devastated to lose my friend and a positive force in my life,”added bassist Lewis Wharton.

Tickets for the tour, which was due to start in Cambridge tonight will be refunded.

The soul singer who recently worked with Gorillaz, external on their album Humanz has shared a new track from her own forthcoming album which has been produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy.

The powerful If All I Was Was Black is from an album of the same name, featuring ten songs about contemporary America.

"Nothing has changed," said Mavis who witnessed and endured racism throughout her career touring the US with The Staple Sisters in the 1960s, "We are still in it.”

It's her third collaboration with Jeff, their first You Are Not Alone, won a Grammy for best Americana album.

"Some people are saying they want to make the world great again," said the 78-year-old, "but we never lost our greatness. We just strayed into division.”

The deeds to the real-life Eleanor Rigby's Liverpool burial plot has failed to sell at a Beatles auction.

Whether the scullery maid, who died in 1939, was actually the inspiration for the song is still being debated.

An unreleased George Harrison recording, Hello Miss Mary Bee, sold for £14,000 while a pair of John Lennon’s glasses went for £5,600.

A set of autographs from the set of the Magical Mystery Tour film went for £7,000 at the Omega Beatles auction on Monday in Cheshire.

An original score for Eleanor Rigby was removed from an auction ahead of time amid claims it was stolen.

The handwritten score, signed by Paul McCartney had a guide price of £20,000.

The auction house said an allegation of theft had been made to Thames Valley Police.

Mercury-nominated folk star Seth Lakeman is the newest member of Robert Plant's touring band the Sensational Space Shifters but he thought he was the victim of a prank when he got the offer.

Speaking to the BBC at Radio 2 Live in Hyde Park, he said: "I literally got a text from an engineer I know at Real World [Peter Gabriel's recording studio in Bath] and he said, 'Can RP ring you in the morning?'

"I was like, 'Yeah, but I don't know who RP is.' Then I was getting my daughter into the car and Robert Plant rang up.

He added: "One of my mates is a mad Zeppelin fan and I thought it was him. But then it dawned on me: This guy knows too much information about Zeppelin."

Seth got the gig after working on Plant's forthcoming album, Carry Fire.

Now in an interview with Business of Fashion, external, the star - who has 126m Instagram followers - has expanded further on why, despite being connected to so many fans, fame and social media can still leave her feeling all alone.

"It’s a lonely journey to really figure out where all this stuff is coming from," she said.

Selena, who is currently trying her hand at acting in a new Woody Allen film, external, added: “I have like three good friends that I can tell everything to, but I know everyone. I go anywhere and I’m like, ‘Hey guys, how’s it going?’ And it feels great to be connected to people, but having boundaries is so important.

"I see a disconnect from real life connections to people, and that makes me a little worried."

Well, in a purely virtual sense.

Benny Andersson has confirmed to a Swedish newspaper that plans for a virtual reality tour featuring all four members is in the works.

He told Expressen, external: "We see each other every now and then, we've done a few different things, and now we've got a project ahead of us"

The tour, featuring digital avatars of Benny, Bjorn lveaus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad and Agnetha Fältskog is planned to kick off in 2019.

“It will take a bit of time, it takes time to digitalize a face,” he said, adding: "It's fun that it's so technologically advanced. It will be interesting."

Until they crack the technology, there is still a new exhibition on the band at London's Southbank Centre to go and see, if you're in town.

Some tragic news to report from this weekend's Bestival...

A woman who was found dead at the Dorset music festival was the daughter of Holby City, Taggart and Coronation Street actor John Michie, his agent has confirmed.

The body of Louella Michie, 25, from London, was discovered in a wooded area of the festival site.

A 28-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by police.

In a statement, Bestival organisers said the team were "devastated to hear about this tragic news".
