    It's been fun.

But that's it for us today, scroll back down for The Weeknd's beef with a high street fashion brand, Jonny Greenwood in the running for a big award, Khalid scooping fourth place in the BBC Sound of 2018 poll, new music from the likes of David Byrne, a video from the Manic Street Preachers and also find out what a Yaybahar is.

Plus, hear from our Newbie Tuesday artist Bessie Turner about being a rock star on a boat.

We'll be back with all the hump day music goodness that you can handle tomorrow. We'll leave you with those questionable lyrics by Mahalia in her track Sober (scroll down for a child's thoughts on them).

We totally forgive her creative mathematical equation.

OK - time for some more new music videos now.

First up, the Welsh rock 'n' roll legends, whose forthcoming album Resistance Is Futile is out on the 6 April.

The video for first single International Blue sees the lads strolling around Nice in the south of France while a mysterious Japanese woman drops pearls of wisdom.

    Watch above.

Next up, having previously teamed up with a member of One Direction in Louis Tomlinson, Grammy-nominated DJ/Producer Steve Aoki has now joined forced with one of the Fifth Harmony girls.

The collab with Lauren Jauregui is apparently all about "love and wanting" and sees the girlband star working her way around a crowded nightclub dancefloor.

You'll never guess who's on the decks in da club though...only Steve. What were the odds?

Check that one out above too and then pick your favourite.

Leicester singer-songwriter Mahalia was picked by 1Xtra as one of their Hot for 2018 artists earlier this week.

It's the first soundtrack to top the US album chart since Fifty Shades Darker in March last year.

Ed 'Conquerer of worlds' Sheeran's Divide is at number two followed by his pal Taylor Swift's Reputation.

  9. Newbie Tuesday #9: Bessie Turner - The new age hippy who walks on waterpublished at 13:37 GMT 9 January 2018

    Paul Glynn
    Music News LIVE reporter

    Media caption,

Bessie Turner performs Words You Say in session for BBC Music Introducing.

After performing an enchanting set at the BBC's famous Maida Vale studios, most up and coming UK artists would be wise to keep their feet firmly on terra firma.

    Not Bessie Turner.

She went back to the boat where she lives with boyfriend/drummer Ben, in the remote and bohemian Suffolk village of Pin Mill.

But then Bessie - who has previously lived in a caravan - is not like everybody else.

The singer, who was picked up by BBC Music Introducing in Suffolk, has been singing/playing guitar since she was a child but only found her voice in recent years after be-befriending a group of local artists, creative types and "mad old hippies".

"I had a tough few years and didn't want to be seen or heard by anybody and never really had the confidence to push it to record labels," says Bessie.

"I'd been in an awful relationship and played solo shows where I wasn't strong enough or confident enough.

"Then, about two years ago... you know when you just meet new people who change your perspective on everything?

"I found myself immersed in artists and musicians in Ipswich and Suffolk - a bit like Nico and the Velvet Underground!"

She adds: "I've got lots of mad, old hippy friends who are part of an artists' co-operative and [they stress] how important it is to create and make life and memories.

    Quote Message

If you create something you should be proud to show it off and I wasn't until I had that encouragement. I needed someone to pick me up a bit.

"I showed them a few songs and they were like 'wow! [Bessie uses a stronger word than 'wow' but you get the idea], this needs to be heard. How many songs do you have?'

"If I worked on every idea I've ever had, I would have hundreds."

Now that her mojo is finally working and she has the band she was "always desperate to be in" around her, the singer/songwriter has set about recording a debut EP 2222 (out next month or "March latest") and has even made a start on a 'very different' debut solo album.

You will have heard tracks from the upcoming EP if you caught her fledgling performance at last summer's Latitude Festival

Bessie pays for her recording by working shifts in a pub, a catering company and an events company - and we chat over the phone in the small window in between her band photo-shoot and charity work as a care worker.

A DIY hippy ethos and a lack of funds led to Bessie, Ben and friend/videographer Chris setting up their own 'non-label record label' Don't Try Records.

This has enabled them to get drunk, then record songs and videos - like first single The Big Sleep (above) - more easily.

"I've always been shy and nervous and insecure - you wouldn't think that if you saw me after a few pints though!" she confesses.

    Quote Message

I’d wrote this song and we were a bit drunk in the pub one night and we were like, 'Shall we record it and make a video?'

    "It was just an expeirment.

"We were all just banging our heads against the walls a bit, so just said; 'let’s just try and be creative and do something’ and it really worked in our favour."

Her creative mashup of two Christmas classics (above) certainly worked during the afore-mentioned Maida Vale session last month.

And if you like the sound of that, you can catch Bessie and the band performing plenty of intimate gigs over the coming months., external

As for a gig on the boat? Well, that one might have to wait for now. Officially at least.

"We rehearse on the boat which saves money, because studios are like 40 quid a time and we don't really have that money.

"We're planning on doing a gig, as there's space. But it might have to be family and friends because if someone fell over the edge I might get in trouble with the insurance people!"

Anyone who listened to Ken's critically-lauded 2017 album Damn will know that he's not a big fan of the US President to say the least.

It was probably for the best the rapper and Mr Trump appear to have narrowly avoided each other last night when Ken played the first ever half-time show at a College Football Playoff, just outside the Atlanta stadium were The Donald was in attendance.

Ken played three tracks from his politically-charged chart-topping album as well as new single All the Stars at Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park.

The game itself, between Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs, was played at the nearby Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Trump apparently left the match before the half-time show began which, for the fans inside the stadium, actually consisted of two marching bands.
