  12. Quincy Jones v the Michael Jackson estatepublished at 12:55 BST 25 July 2017

    The Hollywood Reporter

Quincy Jones, Michael JacksonImage source, Getty Images

The jury have started deliberations in LA in a court case involving Quincy Jones and the estate of Michael Jackson.

The music producer says he's owed $30 million by the estate, while Jackson's estate says it is closer to $400,000.

Jones claims that after the singer's death he has missed out on millions of dollars in royalties and denied the opportunity to remix works he created with Jackson.

Jackson's estate says that accounting errors did cause the music producer to be underpaid but put the figure at $392,000.

Jones is arguing that he should get a share in profits from the This Is It documentary as it counts as a "videoshow" under his contract, but Michael Jackson's estate says that term is only used for music videos so the film doesn't count.

  13. Alice Cooper finds long lost Warholpublished at 12:32 BST 25 July 2017

    Alice CooperImage source, PA

Most of us would be happy to find a tenner we'd forgotten about but Alice Cooper has found an Andy Warhol silk screen print thought to be worth $10m in an old storage locker he owns.

The discovery came after his manager Shep Gordon had dinner with an art dealer and they talked about Warhol's work and it reminded Shep that Alice had been given a Warhol piece a long time ago.

Cooper and Warhol were friends in the 1970s and his girlfriend bought him a print of an electric chair because his tour at the time saw Alice electrocuted every night on an electric chair.

Alice was constantly on tour at the time and then went into rehab so his entire flat was put in storage.

    Andy WarholImage source, Getty Images

So 40 years later after a few months digging through his all his belongings in storage it was found rolled up in a tube with nothing to indicate what it was.

Shep says Alice doesn't know what to do with it and may donate it to a museum.

You can listen to Shep tell the full story to Rhod Sharp here (go to 48 minutes in).

Alice’s new album Paranormal is out this Friday and you can hear a taster of the album below...

  16. Arcade Fire revoke 'hip and trendy' dress code demandspublished at 11:12 BST 25 July 2017

    Arcade FireImage source, EPA

Montreal indie rockers Arcade Fire release their long-awaited fifth album Everything Now on Friday.

To mark this fact they're hosting a pre-album launch party in Brooklyn on Thursday, for which ticket-holders were emailed some rather bizarre instructions/information about how to dress and what to expect on the night.

The email said that a "hip and trendy" dress code would be enforced and that all phones would be seized and secured in Yondr pouches for the duration of the 30 minute performance.

Turns out it's all part of one of the most confusing, satirical and exhausting marketing campaigns for any album in recent memory.

In a new statement the band have confirmed that fans can actually "wear whatever they want", that the gig will run at "normal length" and that phones won't be taken away (though they are still keen on the phone-free viewing experience).

We went to a pizza place near UCLA to hang out and talk about what to do next. The band was called Xero at the time, and we probably had less than a half a dozen songs. No flame tattoos yet, no red hair yet, most of us were still in college."

Rihanna stole the show at the premiere of Luc Besson's new sci-fi film Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets in London last night.

The singer plays a dancing, shape-shifting alien Bubble in the graphic novel adaptation, a character she loved.

I think of myself as a shape-shifter in terms of my music and my fashion, so I fell in love with her."

She also told the screaming fans that she was grateful that Luc Besson was patient with her "knowing I was new to this".

    Quote Message

When Luc Besson calls, you just go, you just show up. I don't care what it is, you just say: 'Yes sir, I'm coming'. It's a visually thrilling film. I was blown away, I didn't know what to expect. I enjoyed every moment of it."
