With the annual song contest just around the corner, the final 41 countries taking part is now complete.

The contest will be held in Tel Aviv, Israel, between 14 and 18 May.

Michael Rice will represent the UK with his ballad Bigger Than Us.

However, we like the look of Iceland's Hatari (above), clad in bondage-esque gear and performing what sounds like death metal techno.

Translated into English, the lyrics for Hatari's song read: "Hate will prevail. Happiness comes to an end. For it is an illusion. A treacherous pipe dream."

We haven't been this buzzed by a Eurovision band since Finland's Lordi in 2006.

ICYMI at the back end of last week, here's the video for the Amsterdam indie rockers' new track Daddy Issues.

They described the cinematic effort as their "love letter to classic cinema, but also a cautionary tale."

Adding: "Our culture makes it too easy to fall in love with things which aren't real, and if you're not careful you can end up in a sort of groundhog day cycle of self-induced disappointment. I think the surreal narrative of the video encapsulates that in quite a self aware way."

Pip and co will be performing at the annual South by Southwest industry event this week in Austin, Texas.

  4. Nick Cave tells fans about emotional return to Manchester after bombingpublished at 15:35 GMT 11 March 2019

    Nick CaveImage source, Getty Images

The Brighton-based Australian singer-songwriter gave a characteristically eloquent response to a question on his fan platform Red Right Hand Files.

A woman named Sarah asked him if he ever cried during one of his own songs when he played a live show.

Rather than a simple 'yes' or 'no', Nick answered "it is very difficult to be sad on stage," explaining that he is usually "seized by the enormous energy of the crowd, and the power of the music itself, where all memories disappear and the future does not exist."

However, he added that a show at the Manchester Arena, just four months after the devastating terror bombing which killed 22 people, proved an exception.

Cave wrote: "Every now and then, a sudden thought, beyond my control, pierces this state of present-ness - a devastating image or a shocking recollection or an impossible wish - and that holy state of now ruptures and the world comes crashing in, and, well, sometimes you cry."

He added that "there was a feeling of real defiance in the room, of course, but a terrible sadness too.

    Quote Message

A sadness because we understood that evil does walk among us, and that none of us has any real control over our destinies, that we are all tossed around by the arbitrary winds of fate and who ever really knows what is going to happen next?

"I felt an intense common bond with the audience, that became in the end almost overwhelming and which I will never forget.

"To answer your question, Sarah, generally my own songs don’t make me cry, but sometimes I cry all the same. How can we not?"

So Elizabeth challenged Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn to name a politician they actually like...

After promising and ultimately delivering a handful of albums two years ago, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard used 2018 to tour and reflect.

Back in 2017 you may recall how each of KG&TWZ's album titles got progressively more ridiculous from Flying Microtonal Banana to our favourite Gumboot Soup (just in the nick of time, before New Year).

Today, the Aussie prog rockers have announced their return will come on 26 April, in the form of Fishing For Fishies.

Oh we have missed them so.

A note to binge watch Ricky Gervais' new series, After Life, may have been ringed in your diary this weekend.

It seems it was for rock 'n' roll star Liam Gallagher.

The six-part Netflix series follows lead character Tony as he decides to punish the world around him following the death of his beloved wife.

Ricky has been quoted in the press as saying it's the best thing he's done.

Liam would tend to agree, describing the work as "beautiful."

We wonder what LG he made of Freelove Freeway, external though?

Liam is due a new work of his own out soon, with the follow-up to number one debut solo album, As You Were, on the way.

When it comes he's gonna need a new catchphrase.

Elsewhere, it's been reported Liam's fashion label Pretty Green is considering its future, having called in advisers to review options for the future of the business.

A spokesperson for the brand told the trade journal Drapers, external that it was “not immune to the challenges currently facing the UK high street."

Liam founded the label in 2009 shortly before Oasis split but has had little to do with its running since around 2017.

The Australian band - who are effectively the Kevin Parker psych-rock disco experience, have shared a snippet of what they've been up to in the studio.

It's a typically-groovy little number and you can hear it below, coming directly from the Australian's achingly hip (and technologically obsolete) reel-to-reel recorder.

Last album Currents arrived in 2015 but we're still not sure whether its follow-up will be out by the time the band perform on Saturday Night Live in the US later this month.

They'll then go on to headline Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona this summer.

  11. Joni Mitchell in all her Morning Glorypublished at 13:21 GMT 11 March 2019

    Joni MitchellImage source, Getty Images

A book of the Woodstock singer's handwritten lyrics and watercolour paintings is to go back into print.

One hundred copies of Morning Glory on the Vine were originally gifted to the singer/songwriter's closest friends in 1971 - around the time of her hit album, Blue - but the rare book will now be made available to the public in October.

“For this stunningly beautiful book," it says on her website, external, "Joni hand-wrote an exquisite selection of her own lyrics and poems and illustrated them with more than thirty of her original paintings and watercolours.

"Hand-crafted, signed, and numbered in Los Angeles, the existing copies of this labour of love have rarely been seen in the past half-century.”

No price as yet but we suspect it won't be on the lower end of the scale.

  12. R. Kelly 'sexual abuse' tape given to US authoritiespublished at 13:02 GMT 11 March 2019

    R. KellyImage source, Getty Images

A US man has claimed to have found a video tape allegedly showing R. Kelly "sexually abusing underage African-American girls."

Gary Dennis told reporters he handed the tape to authorities after discovering it at his house.

    R. Kelly was charged last month with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four alleged victims, three of whom were minors.

The R&B artist has denied appearing in the video, and all other charges.

If convicted, he faces three to seven years in prison on each count.

Mr Dennis, a nursing home worker, said he came across the footage whilst sorting through a box of old video tapes.

He played one tape with a recording of a football match after finding it had been labelled "R. Kelly". He expected it to have been recorded over with an old concert.

Instead it contained sexual abuse, he alleges.
