The US singer has had a crack at You Must Love Me, from the musical, as part of a collection of songs to mark the UK composer's 70th birthday.

Unmasked: The Platinum Collection will include versions of songs from throughout ALW's career from 1968's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat through his most recent School of Rock.

Big musical Fan Lana said: "Andrew Lloyd Webber has been one of my primary inspirations in music, so to do a cover of one of his songs is a dream.

Lana Del ReyImage source, Getty Images
    Quote Message

I especially love this particular song, You Must Love Me, because of how unique the melody is. I’ve been incredibly inspired by all of Andrew’s work from Phantom of the Opera to Evita.

As luck would have it Andrew is a big fan of Lana's too. Who knew?

"Lana Del Rey sings beautifully, and with a haunting echo, over the simple piano accompaniment," he said.

"Singer and song express neediness, devotion, bravery and command, all at once, a clever, seemingly effortless trick of Rice’s syntax."

    Whatever that means.

Mariana is taken from the Manchester indie band's new EP; A Deeper Sea.

The video for the track captures an amateur five-a-side football team enjoying a game in slow motion.

    Singer Jonathan Higgs explains why:

"The song talks about male identity and the current high rate of suicide among men in the UK," he said.

"I wanted to capture some men in a natural setting - no actors or contrived sequences.

    Quote Message

I settled on amateur football as it's so closely allied to male identity, and a game is a good place to look for unguarded emotions, separate from the everyday.

  6. Glass Animals: 'The kids need their vitamin P!'published at 14:04 GMT 5 March 2018

    Paul Glynn
    Music News LIVE reporter

    Glass Animals

One of the more ridiculous music news stories of last year saw Pineapples banned by organisers of Reading and Leeds festival.

They were listed alongside fireworks and weapons, remember, as items that festival-goers could not take on site. And whose fault was it that many of you were denied possibly the juiciest of all the fruits in your hour of need?

    Glass Animals - albeit unwittingly.

The Oxford band's track Pork Soda, which includes the lyrics "pineapples are in my head", proved so popular that fans began bringing them along to their gigs.

At the time, it was described by the band as "fruitist". Now, with a series of UK and US festivals on the horizon this summer, including All Points East Festival, the band are calling for an end to the ban.

Frontman Dave Bayley said: "The kids need their vitamin P - let them have it.

"[There's a] deficiency though the youth of Britain.

    She's got a pineapple...on her head.

Speaking at the Music Producers Guild Awards, where he pulled off the double of best album (for Mercury Prize-nominated How To Be a Human Being) and self-producing artist of the year, Dave outlined his plan for the rest of the year.

"Going to take a bit of break from the band to write and produce for other people which will be really fun, then it's festival time - mainly in America."

On his production style, Dave added:

    Quote Message

Some producers very much facilitate but I like making people feel uncomfortable and seeing what I can get out of them. Trying to get the best performance out of people is important.

"The pressure is off when you're producing someone else. When you're working with your own band it comes with a lot of baggage.

"It's nice not to have to think about that and just focus on helping someone to find their vision."

  8. UNKLE's James Lavelle on the key to a great remixpublished at 13:16 GMT 5 March 2018

    Paul Glynn
    Music News LIVE reporter

    James LavelleImage source, Getty Images

Any budding young (or old) DJs out looking for tips on how to perfect a remix could do a lot worse than listening to the advice of James Lavelle.

The man from Unkle, who last year returned with a top 20 hit album The Road: Part 1, picked up the award for remixer of the year at Thursday's Music Producers Guild Awards, external.

He stopped to tell us about the key ingredients to throw into the remix.

    Quote Message

All good music is about integrity and respecting what it is. Then keeping the soul and taking it to another place. And showing the versatility of what you can do with music.

The DJ, who has been at it for 30 years and has therefore seen a lot of change in the biz, added: "It's easier to make records now.

"When I started, remixing was quite a complicated process technically.

"Now with technology, things are a bit easier and it's easy to get away with it sometimes - I have at times!

"But there's a real creative process that goes into it."

However, the 44-year-old Spurs fan was unable to comment fully on striker Harry Kane's presenting skills - alongside Camila Cabello - at the Brit Awards.

No need - as they've only gone and done it in their practice room ahead of their summer tour.

Dave Grohl and the band, who have previously covered the Beatles and Wings in their sets, have shared the live mash-up of Lennon's solo anthem of peace and the Dutch-American guitar wizard's Jump - as covered by Girls Aloud.

Check out Dave's impressive falsetto above. Interesting to see if this one makes the tour set list.

Last year, the Foos live cover of the Fab Four's Come Together, with Liam Gallagher on vocals, left the former Oasis man in pain for a week after he forgot the words and went crowd surfing instead, only to have his bottom pinched.

At least that doesn't happen in the practice room.

The rapper was performing Stand Up for Something from the film Marshall, which had been shortlisted for best original song.

It didn't win in the end but it will be remembered for Common's stirring freestyle intro, which referenced so called 'dreamers' - the name for the children of illegal migrants who are at risk of deportation and had a dig at the gun lobbyists, the National Rifle Association.

  12. Elton John savages 'rude, disruptive guy' who interrupted Vegas showpublished at 11:43 GMT 5 March 2018

    Elton JohnImage source, Getty Images

Sir Elton John responded with a statement at the weekend after he stormed off stage during his show in Las Vegas last week.

In a video - which you can watch online but we can't post here due to the graphic nature of the language - the star is visibly upset when a fan, who has been invited with other fans on to the stage during a performance of Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, gets a little too excited.

Sir Elt said the man "put his hands on the piano keys... and continued to do so even after I asked him to stop".

He called him "rude and disruptive" and said he had "no care or respect" for the show.

You messed with the wrong knight fella.

Bon Jovi's most recent chart-topping album This House is Not for Sale has returned to the summit of the US album chart a year and a half after its release and it's all down to their upcoming arena tour.

Its 120,000 equivalent album sales have come almost entirely from a concert ticket/album deal.

The band's 24-date tour kicks off on 14 March in Denver and has sold an estimated 350,000- 375,000 tickets. With each ticket sold, fans get a redemption offer for a CD copy of the album, the cost of which is folded into the ticket price.

    Crafty eh?

Sales count towards the charts when the email vouchers are redeemed by customers but, according to Billboard, many ticket buyers never redeem the offer.

Still enough of them have done so to push the album back to the top.

Apparently, the 15-month gap between number one chart positions is a record too.

The Arctic Monkeys are truly teasing their UK fanbase now.

Following a series of summer festival announcements around the US and Europe, Sheffield's finest have now revealed that they'll play a string of their own headline gigs in the likes of Paris, Berlin and Rome - in May/June.

Support will come from Tame Impala player-turned-solo star Cameron Avery.

You can check the full details below.

The only date announced for this country remains the TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow on 1 July and Alex and co are expected to release the follow-up to 2013 album AM this year too - but no official word on that either.

Lads, we'd like to tell you all our problem... We're not going to Milan, we want Rotherham (insert a city near you).

Miguel and Natalia Lafourcade perform at the Oscars

    Morning all.

As the post Oscars after-parties get into full swing in California, here in the UK we're warming up for another week of Music News.

Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood missed out on an Oscar with wins for Alexandre Desplat and Remember Me writer Robert Lopez, while nominee Sufjan Stevens was joined on stage by St Vincent.

Elsewhere, the Arctic Monkeys announce a string of European shows and Bon Jovi's album goes back to the top of the chart after it's given away with tickets for their US tour.

While the Foo Fighters re-work a John Lennon classic and Migos perform on SNL.

Let's kick off today though with the official best original song from last night's awards, as performed by US singer Miguel; who's probably still up celebrating as we type.
