Speaking to Newsbeat before the gig, local lads Blossoms, from Stockport, said they were "honoured to be asked to play".

"Maybe it's because we're from here, that we felt it more than, say, if it happened elsewhere.

"Everyone would have preferred it under different circumstances but the gig needed to happen and they needed to reopen the arena.

"People will talk about it in years to come."

Here they are on the night performing some delicious harmonies alongside their Skeleton Key Records mate James Skelly of The Coral.

"Warming up is very important," she told music reporter Mark Savage. "Going on stage every night, you really have to make sure that spiritually, you’re in a calm place.

"So trying to work out when you can, meditating. Just getting in the right zone. Trying not to drink too much is a good idea."

The singer, who performed at the 2012 London Olympics opening and closing ceremonies and was awarded an MBE this year, for her services to music said the best feedback comes from "people saying what the sound of your voice does to them".

She added: "Sometimes you just get so caught up in trying to make it perfect that you forget the actual tone and vibration of your voice does something before you’ve even sung a note.

"That was a big thing that stuck in my head – keep your voice safe."

  17. Rick Astley: Manchester re-opening gig was 'right balance 'published at 11:55 BST 11 September 2017

Rick Astley was a busy man at the weekend, playing Radio 2 in Hyde Park on Sunday, following a Saturday night slot at the We Are Manchester show, alongside Noel Gallagher and The Courteeners.

"It was pretty amazing. Talk about an eclectic line-up," Rick told our music reporter Mark Savage.

"You talk about perspective about why people get together to experience something, and that was incredible last night. It was the absolute right balance of being respectful to the people who went through that tragedy... and also saying, look, we’re in an venue for entertainment and music"

The singer, who hails from Newton-le-Willows, midway between Manchester and Liverpool added: "I used to go into the town all the time to buy records and look at instruments I couldn’t afford.

"So, it was special to be there.

The singer covered the Foos' classic Everlong in Manchester, which would been confusing had he not performed on stage with the Foo Fighters in Japan recently.

"That was literally the first time I’ve met that band... Dave Grohl came over while they were playing, gave me a hug and introduced himself."

While Hurricane Irma continues to batter the US state of Florida, US pop queen Beyonce has been offering a hand to those affected by Hurricane Harvey in her home town of Houston, Texas.

Thousands of people were left homeless and dozens died following flooding caused by the hurricane last month.

The singer's mum Tina posted a video on Instagram which showed them helping serve up food to families affected. Beyonce's Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams was also on hand to help.

In the post, Tina said: "That's Michelle Williams at the beginning of line, serving the chicken, Beyonce on Green beans and me on bread duty."

The singer had pledged to help as many victims of the storms as she could.

Ouch. Could this be a new low in the ongoing sibling rivalry between the Gallagher brothers.

Earlier we told you about Noel's emotionally-charged performance of Don't Look Back in Anger at the We Are Manchester gig on Saturday night.

His younger brother has now hit out at his brother on Twitter, labelling his emotional tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack a "PR stunt."

We can't bring you the tweets as Liam uses some typically offensive language.

Some fans online have questioned the comments regarding his brother's intentions at the gig to raise money for the Manchester Memorial Fund.

The singer, who flew back from a gig in Germany in order to perform at the One Love Manchester event in June, was in Madrid on Saturday to play the city's DCODE festival, external, alongside the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Charlie XCX and The Kooks.

The 44-year-old once again proved his dedication to fashion by sporting a cagoul in the baking Spanish sun and like brother Noel, he raced through a mix of solo material and Oasis classics.

Before introducing Slide Away - from his old band's debut album Definitely Maybe - the frontman declared: "My brother wrote it. But I sang it!"

Watch below as Liam changes the words of another Oasis classic Wonderwall for the benefit of the crowd in the Spanish capital.

Liam obviously wasn't paying attention when we learnt Spanish with fellow DCODE attendees and Madrid rockers The Parrots at this year's Great Escape Festival.
