Thanks for getting involved with this one on Facebook and Twitter.

It seems the awaser to the above question is a resounding 'Yes'.

Deborah Baxter, external was at the Simple Minds gig in Manchester last night, after the band said it would be "cowardly" not to perform.

She thinks they made the correct decision.

    Quote Message

I went to this gig and the minute's silence was heartbreaking. The band wanted to play and we danced and sang our hearts out. Not an easy decision for the band or the fans after such tragic events."

Mark Bastin, external agrees, he said:

    Quote Message

Good on Simple Minds on playing Manchester. I've got a couple of gigs in London next week and glastonbury and I'll been enjoying the events to the full. These "People" hate our way of life and our freedoms... We have to stand together and overcome and show them we can get on with our lifes and our freedom."

Graham Lee, external says yes, go to gigs, but be extra careful.

    Quote Message

Of course we will still go!! We mustn't let these morons stop us!! Be Vigilant but do go."

Sophie Manoury, external has a pretty defiant response to the terrorists.

    Quote Message

We won't be defeated! I'm going to big weekend at the weekend! Together we will overcome this monstrosity."

    As does David Viveiros, external.

    Quote Message

Don't let terrorism win. Go and be aware always."

Kevin Andrew Gladok on Twitter was the only person with any real reservations while Aiden and Peter (below) say they will continue to believe in the power of live music.

  15. Brian May: 'We need to break the cycle of violence'published at 12:51 BST 24 May 2017

    NME

    Brian MayImage source, Getty Images

Queen's Brian May is calling for the authorities to look at the "underlying causes" behind Monday night's attack.

The guitar god believes that "we must dismantle everything that has gone before and start again" in order to understand why somebody would "hate us" enough to commit such an atrocity on these shores.

Speaking to the NME about the bombing, May said: "It’s the most terrible thing.

"It’s almost impossible to imagine the kind of hatred that has to exist in someone if they would bomb children.

“To me, you have to break the cycle of violence and you have to treat horrific events with compassion."

    He adds:

    Quote Message

I don’t mean compassion for the person who did the bombing. You have to look at the world and say, ‘What part do we play in the world?’"

Queen are set to play the Manchester Arena in December and he says they will not be cancelling as "that's what they [terrorists] want".

"They want to ruin our lives, they want to stop us making music, dancing and being happy.

"We have to stick to what we believe in, which is that life is to be lived.”

Morrissey, who also marked his 58th birthday yesterday, accused London mayor Sadiq Khan of not condemning so-called Islamic State - "who have claimed responsibility for the bomb".

"Manchester mayor Andy Burnham says the attack is the work of an 'extremist'", he wrote. "An extreme what? An extreme rabbit?"

"In modern Britain everyone seems petrified to officially say what we all say in private."

The outspoken singer added politicians "are never the victims".

  18. Opinion round up: Targeting Ariana gig was 'no accident' say writerspublished at 11:47 BST 24 May 2017

    Ariana GrandeImage source, Getty Images

Music journalists and writers in the UK and America are in almost unanimous agreement that the attack on an Ariana Grande concert aimed largely at empowering young girls was "no coincidence."

Police have named 22-year-old Salman Ramadan Abedi, a Manchester man of Libyan descent as the bomber at the Arena, while so-called Islamic State have laid claim to the attack - though that has yet to be verified.

Alexis Petridis in The Guardian argues music aimed at young girls provides:

The Telegraph's Neil McCormick insists "targeting Ariana Grande was no accident" as:

While James Harkin in fellow US publication Billboard, argued:
