    Let's get started.

    MTV VMAs: Highlights

1.) (Almost) all the stars turned out for the MTV awards

Rapper Kendrick Lamar was crowned king of this year's Video Music Awards, scooping six of the moon men trophies.

But he was almost upstaged by Lorde, who performed an interpretive dance rather than sing Homemade Dynamite live as she was apparently so ill, she was on a drip backstage.

British grime artist Giggs brought out the big guns at the Reading festival over the weekend, when he invited Canadian rap superstar Drake on stage during his performance.

He guested on Drake's album More Life earlier this year.

That was one of several surprise guests over the weekend which also saw a "secret set" by Queens of the Stone Age at Reading and its sister events in Leeds.

You can still check out some of the best performances from the weekend, including Muse who brought out AC/DC singer Brian Johnson for a surprise rendition of Back in Black.

...and if you're near the stage, you might just end up with either one or maybe even a pair of his trainers.

"I got given these shoes and they’re the most uncomfortable ******* pair of shoes of I’ve ever worn in my life.

"So much so that … does anyone want them?,” he said flinging his shoes into a sold out crowd at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida on Tuesday night, having worn them to the VMAs on Sunday.

Our reporter Mark Savage said hew song "finds the band sounding more vital and forceful than they have since releasing Vertigo way back in 2004".

He added: "Lyrically, though, it’s not as sure-footed as you’d expect. Bono seems to have re-written Paul Simon’s 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover by way of the apocalypse, with clunky lines like: “Democracy is flat on its back, Jack / We had it all, and what we had is not coming back, Zack”.

5.) You can have your loved ones turned into a vinyl record

You may want to get their blessing first.

"It makes the perfect family record, which can be passed down the generations," says Jason Leach, 46, the founder of north Yorkshire firm And Vinyly (...nice touch), which produces the disc.

John Hobson, a 69-year-old sculptor, says his mother Madge would thoroughly approve of her record.

"I had to weigh out a quantity of the ashes [which had been kept in an urn], and put a large teaspoonful into a number of small plastic bags, one for each disc," he says.

It kind of brings new meaning to Get Into the Groove
