Lady Gaga's $100m (£77m) Las Vegas residency will consist of two distinct shows, organisers have revealed.

The main feature will be Lady Gaga Enigma, described as a "brand new odyssey of her pop hits".

She will also perform a regular Jazz and Piano show, featuring stripped-down versions of her own songs alongside classics from the American Songbook.

The star, who cancelled her recent world tour over health concerns, will make her Vegas debut on 28 December.

James singer Tim Booth has told BBC Radio 5 live that new song Coming Home (Pt 2) is about "being in denial" over how much he missed his young son while being away on tour.

Booth teared up as he recalled seeing his son after an extended period away.

He told presenter Nihal Arthanayake: "I realised he'd been trying to make it easier for me to be away, but I was like: 'I'm not doing that again'."

Last night's Prom saw an intriguing experiment; as the London-based Aurora Orchestra attempted (successfully) to play Shostakovich’s complex, fleet-footed Ninth Symphony without the aid of sheet music.

Their performance was preceded by an entertaining chat by broadcaster Tom Service and conductor Nicholas Collon - who unpicked the various threads and themes of the work, which was predicted to be a patriotic anthem to the Allied victory in the Second World War.

What he premiered in Leningrad in 1945 was "the exact opposite of the piece the world expected" said Service.

"The piece is more like a musical circus parade than an epic pageant," he observed.

Scissor Sisters' star Jake Shears has penned an ode to the "pornstar handlebar" called Big Bushy Mustache, a disco glam stomp-fest from his forthcoming solo album.

"It takes a bushy mustache to show them who you really are," he observes as guitars squeal and synths pop all around him.

The video sees him go full Freddy Mercury - parading an impressive set of bristles around the streets of New Orleans as he recruits other men to grow out their facial hair.

Among the willing victims is Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, a longtime friend - about whom Shears has written another song, The Bruiser, for his new album.

“He’s like a brother to me and just inspires me to no end,” the singer recently told Rolling Stone, external.

“I think he’s an amazing man. And musically, I think he’s one of the best alive.”

Fans have been clamouring for new material from underappreciated pop megatron Carly Rae Jepsen ever since her stop-gap EP, Emotion: Side B, was released two years ago.

But the Candian star is biding her time, putting in hundreds of hours of studio time in between tour dates with Katy Perry and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

She gave a glimpse into the recording sessions on Instagram earlier this week, sharing a video as she recorded backing vocals for an as-yet-unnamed track.

The comments were predictably OTT, with fans text-screaming things like "I'm gonna cry" and "Release the tapes" and "She is coming to save the world".

Unfortunately, there's no indication of when we'll get to hear the finished version of this song; but eagle-eyed observers have spotted new Carly Rae material being registered with the songwriters' organisation ASCAP.

The first gimpse of new music from Aphex Twin was cancelled last night after the visuals failed an epilepsy test.

A song from his forthcoming Collapse EP was due to premiere on Cartoon Network's late-night Adult Swim segment on Monday, but the show was pulled from the schedules at the last minute.

Adult Swim's creative director Jason DeMarco confirmed the news on Twitter, noting that the segment did not pass the Harding test, which analyses video content for flashing patterns which may trigger seizures in those who suffer from epilepsy.

He added that the clip would still appear online - where videos aren't regulated as rigorously as broadcast television.

While there is no official release date for Collapse, Aphex Twin's logo has been popping up on billboards all around the world, external.

One new song, called T69 Interruption, appeared online overnight but has since been pulled down at the request of Aphex Twin's record label, Warp.

The mercurial electronic producer previously played the song at Houston's Day For Night Festival in 2016 - and fans who Shazamed the track got a positive result (albeit with an alternate song title.)

The five-song Collapse EP will follow his 2016 release, Cheetah.

Apropos of nothing, Regina Spektor turned up on Stephen Colbert's chat show last night to perform Samson, a song from her 2006 breakthrough album Begin To Hope.

Her appearance led to a sweet but awkward encounter with the show's producer, as he revealed on Twitter.

Regina spotted the tweet and replied: "That made me happy (not the run part, but the nice words about music part!).

Pop singer Pink has been forced to cancel a series of concerts in Australia after contracting a gastric virus.

The US star initially postponed one date last week "with great frustration" but battled through a performance on Saturday night.

She was subsequently admitted to hospital in Sydney twice, according to promoter Live Nation.

Monday's concert was called off as fans began to arrive at the venue, while Tuesday's show was also postponed.

"Pink will remain in hospital overnight, continuing her treatment and recovery," said a tweet from Live Nation.

Yesterday we reported that fellow star Justin Timberlake had defended the 38-year-old for cancelling a gig after being spotted relaxing on a Byron Bay beach with her family.

JT said: "You won't find a harder working, more authentically talented, and more thankful" performer.

Pop star Ariana Grande will be hopping into James Corden's 4x4 for a round of Carpool Karaoke, the star has revealed.

The US chat show host tweeted a photograph of lyric sheets for No Tears Left To Cry and God Is A Woman on Twitter, adding the caption: "Learning these..."

Ariana then quoted his post, joking: "Sick, what for?"

Corden didn't reveal when the segment would be broadcast but it seems likely to coincide with the release of Ariana's fourth album, Sweetener, on 17 August.

That's presuming he's learned the lyrics in time...

It will actually be Ariana's second stint in the carpool lane, after filming a five-song episode with Family Guy's Seth McFarlane on Apple Music's spin-off series.

"That was our first gig," laughs singer Catrin Vincent from the band.

"I think we really annoyed the lighting people, we just said, 'We want all the lights off' and they said, 'No' and we really pushed for it and all the lights went off and we realised we couldn't see our instruments."

While most bands who had that experience might give up on their dreams of playing in darkness, it only spurred the London four-piece on.

"We built our own lights. We use these circular lights that cast us as silhouettes but yeah, I think the music just fits better in the dark."

Another Sky met while studying music at Goldsmiths University in London, after guitarist Jack sought the other members out.

"We didn’t realise that he was forming a 'supergroup' as he says, he was trying to make a big band and big band sound".

Another Sky's "big band sound" has already drawn genre-spanning comparisons to artists like Radiohead, Talk Talk, Everything Everything and Coldplay.

While Catrin is the frontwoman, she insists the songs are a collaborative effort.

"When we got together and got in a room and the first song we wrote, we just laughed at the end because it so easy to write.

"Most of our songs come from jams, we figure it out together. With Avalanche it was me, I wrote it on the guitar and it's one of our only songs that I wrote and presented to the group."

That song in question (which you can hear above) is the track which could become the band's signature song and tackles the affects of toxic masculinity and the impact of the Me Too movement..

"I sat down and I had these chords and was trying to channel Tracy Chapman, she's my idol and I happened to stumble on this news article about yet another black person being shot by the police and it just fuelled my anger."

"The lyrics (above) cover such a huge breadth of what's going on in the world but it's my personal expression of that.

"The last verse you can really hear my personal experience of oppression. I think it ties the song together."

The astounding music video, which comes with a language warning, external, sees Catrin - her hair hidden under a bald cap - covered head to two in white paint, which slowly starts to flake off in layers.

By the end, with the paint stripped to her naked skin, she has tears rolling down her cheeks.

It's an impressive performance by a non-actor which brings to mind Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares To You, external.

"It was so cathartic," says Catrin. "I'm really grateful to the director Alex because he came up with the whole concept and on the day he let me run with it.

"The take with me crying was actually the first take we did, I really felt it in that take and it is a deeply personal song.

"I'm really proud of it, I had no idea what it would be like and how I felt came across."

Core to the song is Catrin's completely individual singing voice which she says have led some people to mistake her "for a boy".

"I think its great," she says, "I don't know where this weird timbre came from. I used to listen to a lot of classical music when I was little and somehow these operatic vibes came in that made my voice sound falsetto as a women."

So far, Another Sky have produced their own music, releasing an EP earlier in the year, recorded in a studio in the Isle of Wight.

Despite a range of influences ranging from folk to electronic music, Catrin says there is no tension when it comes to recording.

"There's no fights, we all just decide what works and there's not much ego in it."

While it sounds like they are a tight-knit group, they have stopped short of Superorganism's huge houseshare.

"We all live separately but that would be cool," laughs Catrin. "I think at some point you need a break. If we had a really nice house we wouldn't complain."

The resurgent pop star has been speaking to the BBC about his second career as a drummer in a covers band.

"We only play rock and punk songs for charity, cos it’s a mid-life crisis and we’re fully aware of that, but as long as we do it for charity it’s OK," he said.

"I still love playing drums," he added. "It’s the most primeval thing you can do in a band.

"You don’t think of playing the piano to relieve your tension, do you? But play drums for half an hour and you feel like a different person after it."

Alex Turner and Matt Helders from the band have been chatting to Beats 1 DJ Matt Wilkinson at the Osheaga festival in Montreal, Canada.

The Sheffield lads said they'd been enjoying touring their divisive sixth album, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, and admitted that it could inspire a follow-up record quicker than expected.

"Possibly" said newly shaven-headed frontman Alex.

"You know, again I don’t know, we’ve not quite reached a conclusion on what we’re gonna do but, I’d like to, yeah.

"I remember we nearly did after [previous album] AM, there was a moment where we were just like, “Let’s go and do another thing and keep going!'

"I’m glad we didn’t now but there was definitely an urge there to do that."

The US guitarist - who was actually born in Stoke (fun fact) - has suggested that a new Guns N' Roses album could be on the cards.

Their last album, 2008's Chinese Democracy, took 25 years to record but did not feature the famous axeman, who quit the band in 1996.

The hip hop star has been named on the lineup for October's Mala Luna Festival in San Antonio, alongside headliners Nicky Jam and Tyler, the Creator.

Last month Cardi pulled out of her arranged tour with with Bruno Mars, saying she was not ready "mentally and physically" to return to the road, after giving birth to Offset's daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus.

The 25-year-old wrote on Instagram, external: “I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically."

She added: “I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby! Thank you Bruno for being so supportive and understanding."

The one-off festival appearance comes two and a half months after she welcomed her baby girl.

Lana Del Rey has a prodigious work-rate, releasing four albums in just six years (five if you include the eight-track Paradise EP).

So it's no surprise that she's back in the studio a year after releasing the chart-topping Lust For Life.

What's more interesting is that she might be working with Jack Antonoff - who last year masterminded albums by Taylor Swift, Lorde and St Vincent.

Lana posted a picture of herself and Jack on her Instagram yesterday. The caption - "Hi!" - was as enigmatic as you'd expect, but fans are convinced they're working on new material.

The pair have never collaborated before, but given Jack's track record with pop's most erudite female writers, it could be a musical marriage made in heaven.

Pete, Carl and co will curate the final day (9 September) of the Wheels and Fins Festival in Broadstairs, Kent.

Sharabang - as it shall be known - will see The Libs inviting some of their favourites including Echo & The Bunnymen, Reverand and the Makers, Cabbage and Chas & Dave to share the main stage.

Using some excellently outdated English, the band say they are "terribly excited".

The Libertines now run their own hotel, called The Albion Rooms, in nearby Margate, which was apparently inspired by Andy Warhol's Factory.

Apparently with reference to her husband Jay-Z's alleged infidelities, she added: "Only when I saw that clearly was I able to resolve those conflicts in my own relationship”.

The 36-year-old singer also spoke candidly about the details of an emergency C-section she needed for the birth of her twins.

"After the birth of my first child, I believed in the things society said about how my body should look," she writes.

"I put pressure on myself to lose all the baby weight in three months, and scheduled a small tour to assure I would do it.

"Looking back, that was crazy."

A movie about the murder of rap legend Notorious B.I.G. has been pulled a month before its scheduled release.

City Of Lies, which stars Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, was due to hit US cinemas on 7 September, but is now undated, a spokesman for the distributor said Monday.

The decision comes during a period of bad publicity for Depp, who was sued for assault by a member of the film crew last month. He had previously been accused of assault by his ex-wife, Amber Heard - claims which he denies.

A recent Rolling Stone profile, which was intended to rehabilitate his image, instead showcased the actor’s decline.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, external, the spate of bad press would "make any publicity campaign for City of Lies tough."

Depp is still due to appear in the Harry Potter spin-off, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, this November - but that film is unlikely to face the same problems, with Depp making up one part of a larger ensemble cast.

City Of Lies follows the story of disgraced LAPD Detective Russell Poole, whose biggest case - the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. - remains unsolved.

Based on Randall Sullivan’s book LAbyrinth, the film stars Depp as Poole and Forest Whitaker as a journalist conducting a parallel investigation into the murders.
